Not sure about Westerman.I have taken note of him last couple of matches and IMO although he has the pedigree he looks a bit of a spent force and offers little impact.I can see why FC didn't want to keep him on top money and his knee episode is a worry.Having said all that, he's big, works hard, plays long minutes and Chessie probably see's him as a step up in class.I'm assuming he's definitely signed.

So rumour has it and the Atkins rumour is refusing to go away as well, probably to play second row ??

What hppens if we have signed Westerman, Atkins or anyone else for next season and it then becomes apparent that they are crocked.
Do we still have to take them on or are these things subject to a medical.

Although nobody can doubt how hard the guy is, putting his knee back together AND playing on. Radford said that the dislocation had happened multiple times before.
I'm no doctor but, an injury of this nature will get progressively worse over time, which does make you wonder just how much game time you would get from such a player.

You would think a full medical on Westerman will be forthcoming before anyone signed on the dotted line ,and I’d think that would go for every player as it’s a tough old game and we like most of the lower spending clubs can’t afford to have any player coming in carrying long term injury issues .Im no expert on these injuries and might just be a one off hopefully

On the subject of Atkins can’t see what he brings unless cheap as a back up centre second row - tupo lynne arundel already signed , back 3 seems fairly well covered with crowther batchelor kt ashurst king and Pitts , there’s also a possibility of arona

Priority must be a prop and hooker - although if rumours are to be believed we are signing that crocked Aussie from February

From Radford's comments, this wasn't a one off and yes, I agree on the medical but I'm not sure when this takes place.
IF we have signed a player already, for next season, you would think the medical would take place when they have finished playing for their current club but, I dont know the protocol on this.

Speaking from experience, once you have dislocated your patella, you'll dislocate it again. I've struggled with mine for many years. The highlight was a dislocation in a swimming pool in Cuba!

I have learnt how to manipulate it back into place (by moving my leg, not whacking it!) and actually the aftermath isn't too bad.

You do worry what's going to happen in 15 years time when arthritis kicks in. But, I'd still be happy with the signing of Westerman.
