Slugger you should visit our wonderful City & Town it’s much maligned, our Marina and fruit market areas are a fantastic venue for the Sesh, the Sea shanty, and summer music and food festivals.
You should try it some time, rather than your ill informed quip, I had the privilege to walk round Wakefield on Sunday morning, you’d be surprised at the difference.
Riderofthepalehorse I grew up in Wakey and went to Uni in Hull in the early 90s. At the time I felt that as a city centre Wakefield was a nicer place to walk around. However in more recent years whilst some places of Hull are very run down and awful, I agree that the regenerated areas are good and worth visiting. It is amazing how in less than 30 years I've changed my mind due to the change in city fortunes. 30 years ago I thought Wakefield was a nicer city centre, now I think Hull has more to offer. I have close links to both, geographically I'm closer to Hull than Wakefield. Sentimental wise my heart is with Wakefield.
Hi wildshot, my youngest son is at present at Hull uni, and on Sunday we walked round Wakey, hope the link works above.
You already know some of the history of Kingston upon Hull, and you are right, since the regeneration which is still continuing, and the City of Culture experience we have progressed a lot. The major problem in City centres nowadays is the decline of the retail sector, leaving once thriving stores empty, or closed.
Wakefield has its own appeal, which we enjoyed. Hope you enjoyed your time at Hull uni, Regards

Calm down, dear, just joshing.
Good luck in the play-offs. Would be nice to see a change of scene on the Old Trafford podium.
