I think the first thing is, getting enough revenue in, to be able to spend up to the cap, never mind exceeding it.

Not to worry, at least there is a salary cap increase by 65k, however 55k to player-s & 10k to RFL, precident set now !
What's it matter whether the club pays a split payment ? Result of paying is the same cost to the club !

Only problem I would have had with a points deduction is the precedent of only fining clubs.

That said, I can only see further breaches happening as half a dozen clubs must be really struggling to fit their squads under the cap, given they are of far higher quality than the one we've just been pulled up on.

Or perhaps Leeds massively overpaid on "poor" players, although most of their "rejects" have done better elsewhere, which points more towards the coaching, rather than the players themselves ?
