I saw this posted on Twitter yesterday, by a Lord of the realm with Non-Dom status, who - if it was WW2 - would not have paid any tax to help buy ventilators and Spitfires

It's not even about party politics. It's just they are being disingenuous in trying to say they're being apolitical when they're clearly making political points. To these people disagreeing with the party line makes you a political point scorer but toeing the line doesn't make you political whatsoever. They fail to recognise that toeing the line is a political position.

I had to laugh at LittleWayne69 (please tell me that's reference to their date of birth :D ) saying the bit about the spitfires particularly had them.

There is constantly a stockpile of naval ships and planes in case of the need to use them so that in the event on attack we are sufficiently equipped. In fact, Britain spent the bulk of the 1930s preparing for such an event as war. However, there hasn't been stockpiles of necessary equipment in the event of a public health crisis despite having the ran the simulations and knowing about the possibility of a pandemic for decades. So not sure which part of that particular analogy he thinks is even accurate  But I need to get a life - and in doing so I will make sure I will just shut up, laugh at blatant logical fallacies and flawed analogies and go along with whatever LittleWayne69 wants me to so he can remain comfortably ensconsed within his worldview.

The problem is that the so called errors resulted in unnecessary deaths meaning we have one of the highest totals in the world. I note you criticise the fact that many cannot follow the instructions but listening to Johnson’s presidential appearance it was complete gibberish, which was pointed out be many.
This is too serious to make the multiple mistakes that the current government have made, even now they are not able to to produce a workable phone app.
Yes this is political much like every post you make.

Ah, but now is not the time for that, apparently.

Just Lord Ashcroft throwing a grenade in his pathetic little culture war. Typical of right wing shysters of his ilk.

Again point astonishingly missed.

I don't disagree with you, the Government's general response has been pretty shoddy, to say the least, and I suspect when the dust settles some swords will be fallen on.

The issue here is the reaction, not the event. The comparison is not with WW2 and COVID it's the response of agenda over practicality, why that baffles you is quite beyond me. Whoever originated the list was making that point rather than comparing the technicalities of the two events, I think that's pretty obvious despite your rather contrived attempt to make it seem otherwise.

It's this idea that people like you have that somehow you have noticed something the rest of us mortals have not, well you haven't, it's pretty obvious even if you are a true blue or not, which I'm not.

The last bit was a cheap shot from you by the way. There are as many Tories playing the hindsight/look at me game as Liberals or Socialist, so ct out the party political nonsense, it doesn't wash with me. I certainly didn't make a political point in the opening post, mine was an observation on the changing attitudes of British society, give it some thought, I did.

[quote="Fishermanscap"]Far be it from me to defend the Governments response to Covid, it's been patchy at best and questions will need to be asked once it's over. However, the pathetic finger-pointing, me me agenda-driven crud that has come from some has been in my opinion pathetic and pointless and at time embarrassing.

Anyway, this made me laugh in a gallow humour kind of way, though I'm sure someone will be offended./quote]

If you were sure someone would be offended, why post it?
