Not knocking jordan as i rate him due to he way he plays and in no way am i suggesting he doesnt warrent a new deal but with regards the good solid workhorse part think we me gettig overloaded with this type of player, players like arona, battye, pitts, ashurst batch.. jordan these players you just know there gonna put full effort in week in week out.and while this isnt always a bad thing but you do need a matchwinner in there somone whos going change a game.
That said ihope jordy gets a chance at 13 i know he do all he can to keep that shirt
You can’t be overloaded with that kind of player. If youre not a workhorse you shouldn’t be playing.
Danny Brough imo is the most skilled player we have produced in SL, yet he was still a workhorse, had he not been he would have been nothing like the player he was.
Also you clearly have a different version of workhorse than I do, Pitts, Arona and especially Battye are a cut above that. Battye is an excellent ball handling forward, I suggest you watch him in his London days, he showed signs of that against London so maybe now he’s fully settled.
Batch is the only one who fits the bill but he’s plenty of development left in him.
It’s not that I totally disagree with you but to lump all those players into being the same kind of player is plain wrong and you can never have to many of any of them.
I suspect what your trying to say is we lack genuine flair players, match winners and game breakers.
I don’t think we lack match winners we just lack fit ones. We do lack a little flair on occasions and we certainly lack game-breakers. But who doesn’t? There just aren’t many around.
People also get these players wrong, game-breakers don’t have to be flash or fast or hyper skilled they just need to be able to read a game. At the moment hand on heart the only ones we have close to that is Westerman and perhaps Woody. The rest panic even Miller our captain though he has got a lot better.
In truth though we have never replaced Finn. Much derided by some because he was slow but he wasn’t slow between the ears. When he played we remained calm, had he or similar played for us in the last two seasons we’d have been chasing top six. All the near misses would have been just won and that’s what makes teams.
Where to find one? Probably beyond our finances such is the lack of these players at the moment.
Is Crowther the answer, clearly not so I agree there, but until we do find the missing link then it will be the Crowthers and not the big reputation but no balls players who will keep us in SL.
