Used to love Lampy. Like a young bull was an oft used description. Him and Graham Idle had a sublime run around move straight off the scrum. Believe he had pioneering surgery on his knee that got him over one lay off but his style was both his greatest strength and ultimately his downfall. I recall reading at the time that he or the club had difficulty getting insurance for him.
And for some reason I think he was on Blue Peter. What I remember was his try celebration which involved him hurling the ball into the air. If and once again I am relying on my memory the injury occurred against Batley in a pre season friendly at Belle Vue.

I recall being at the Willows, Salford, when Lampy had attempted another comeback but his knee gave up. I can still see him limping off the field. That was it.
I recall back in late 70s early 80s we had a scrum half very much like Lino and we moved him to loose forward and he was sensational. Mike Lampkowski.
He was a sensation when he played hooker for England R U .a player who could find a gap .Up there with the best 13 at Wakefield .Like a few year ago the team Lampkowski was in ,looked like it was going to go to new hights, and then got dismantled because of cash .
