We’ve amassed a very good looking squad but there are a number of variables that we can’t govern and we won’t know until we start playing competitively in Superleague.
Firstly and for me most importantly is how well our new halfbacks combine and create. If they click then everyone else will go well and we’ll be alright. For example look how well Salford play with Sneed pulling the strings but take him out of the team and they’re less than average.
Secondly we don’t know about our youngsters yet, even Pratt who’s looked every inch a high class player this season but isn’t guaranteed to settle at a higher level. We have a lot of young untested players who have never played regularly at a level above the Championship and while I know we’ve researched and bought wisely we won’t know about them until they show us next season.
Thirdly, we’ve put some faith in a few players who will be returning from long term, serious injuries and recapturing their form after such an injury isn’t guaranteed.
All of that said, we couldn’t have done anymore than we have to prepare ourselves for the top division than we have, so we can go into the new season with real optimism
