For those that didn't perform then Chester ought to consider dropping them...the squad should be big enough and healthy enough to rotate at this stage of the season.

Worrying that 42 points conceded to probably one of the weakest SL attacking teams with allegedly the top side to face next week so little time to fix up a poor defence....

Not sure about the weakest attacking team part. They like to give the ball some air and have plenty of flair in the side. The problem is likely to be keeping tries out, not scoring them. I can see them being involved in a few high scoring games this year.

In a perverse sort of way it's good to get this performance in so early. It certainty grounds a few who may have been getting ahead of themselves and definitely shows the players they need to put more in otherwise they will be in for a long hard season.

Saints next week which I thought we would have a good chance of winning, now, can see past a loss but the game has strange way of throwing up unexpected results.

I also thought this. Whilst we needed the start of with a win, and on paper we wont face many 'weaker' opponents, the only thing we can take from is it that we might not be as good as we think we are, and we might not underestimate teams again.

Sorry but you all didn't know you had to put in a solid performance to win. Half of my mates are Wakey fans living in Normy and they all thought you would breeze past London with no issues. As did many posters on here.

It's just one game and I'm sure you will turn it around but it is a little funny that half you guys have bigger yourself up all pre season only to get pounded week 1 to London.

You're right, but we've played the promoted team more than once for the first game over the years, and it's not the first time we come out with a bloody nose!
The thing is, it's a long season, and despite some of the comments from visiting fans swooping like vultures, Trinity do have some cracking players, and we have a right to have expectations.
That said, it's what's in the chest that wins games and it sounds like London wanted it more than us.
I look forward to the return game.

Really feel for MC after putting all the hard work into getting the club on stable ground and bringing together what on paper should be our best team in decades , only for the team to let not only MC down but the huge support that travelled down to cheer them on.Get the attitude and the defence frailties sorted ASAP and let’s move onto the saints game and hope n pray this was just a blip.

Having watched the tries it was all about position and team work in defense. We didn't actually lay a finger on the tryscorer in most cases. We were all over the place.
It can be fixed but they need to do it pretty sharpish.

This isn't a time for shouting and motivating. It's a time for drills and planning.

Disappointed with Brough though. Has to be a leader in these situations.

How did your monster pack get on? In all seriousness, good to see you’ve been taken down a notch or two. The attitude of Wakefield fans the past few months has been extremely arrogant which makes no sense given you’ve failed to make the semi finals the past two years and have won nothing for donkeys years.

Your right about some things here, we sounded unfit and unwilling to dig deep today and I do imagine that some fans have been arrogant and that in a way being grounded again by this result, taken down a notch or two like you say, may help us in further games.

However, Wakefield fans are very understanding that we have not won anything for years, or that these past years we have missed out on semis.
But from where we were three, four years ago, having playing called up for international duties, being put in the dream team, key players signing long term contracts etc I think are perfectly acceptable reasons for having decent expectations of the season ahead.

Of course you have a right to have expectations, there are players in your side that would grace any team in SL and I still expect you to be at least knocking on the door of the playoffs. But when you have bigged yourselves up all winter only to get soundly beaten by everyone's favourites to be relegated you have to expect to get a bit of stick.

I do wonder if you have made a mistake by going with such a big pack though. Not just because of the reduced interchanges but also the shot clock. It makes breathers much harder to come by and you have some big units. Not saying that is why you lost day, but the games have been really fast paced this weekend, and I will be interested to see what effect it has as the season goes on.

Time will tell but, I suppose if you're going to have a stinker and be brought down to earth the first game is the one to teach us all a lesson.
Sounds like we can only get better!

Much has been said/speculated about the size of our pack and the potential effects of the eight subs rule. I saw no evidence of fatigue caused by this. What I did see was a team that for 65 minutes wanted it more and grew in that belief after a slow start.
