Didn’t watch it but sounds like a typical Trin performance. Not sure what I expected but a bit disappointed.
No, whilst there were typical Trin elements in it there was also some positive stuff as well. It was 50/50 really. And Johnstone's tries alone made it worth watching. For me:
1 - I though Lino started quite well and whilst he didn't set the game alight I felt like there's a player in there that will do well for us.
2- We actually tried to get Johnstone into the game really early on and lo and behold he scores a wonder try.
3 - (Even though this should be a given), you couldn't question the attitude of the players.
1 - Our pack struggled to make metres all game which is worrying, although despite what others have said I thought Fafita played quite well. I think in part our lack of metres was due to this over reliance on wingers to bring the ball out first tackle and immediately putting us on the back foot.
2 - I don't think there's another team that has conceded so many tries where the player hasn't had a finger laid on him. And it feels like this has been going on since Kear left (I accept this may be inaccurate but it feels that way). It amazes me how easy it is to get an overlap against us.
3 - After getting Johnstone into the game early we then neglected to really try again for another half hour.
4 - Crowther at hooker and starting hooker at that. Whilst his tackling is a real asset he's not a top level hooker imo his strengths lie elsewhere. I think this really holds back our attack the opposition know he's not gonna hurt them with his running from dummy half and his distribution his patchy (understandable given he's a back rower). It seems to me Chester just wants his defence but we need a proper hooker there not a stop gap. I don't think it's fair on him either.
