Re: 19 V 'ull : Mon Aug 12, 2019 11:52 am
Its fine to suggest Tupou & Lyne haven't hit the form of the last 2 years but this all comes down to the forwards laying the platform and the halves creating space on the edges by having forwards running lines to draw the defenders in hence giving the likes of Tupou and Lyne space to attack. There's only Ashurst who actually runs against the grain and its clear to see we miss him more than some realise.

Miller and Brough are running laterally across the line and by the time hampshire / lyne / tupou have ball in hand the defence has simply slid across.

Brough is also too dominant and everything needs to go through him, his distribution is poor and he passes too early. It's no coincidence Miller was top of the assists chart last year and now he's having possibly his worst season in a trinity shirt.

Has Chester got balls to drop Brough? I dont thinks so.

Hull slowed the play down alot but we're simply not good enough. At the moment we offer nothing going forward (unless Daves on the field), too many balls taken from stand still and nobody looking to support half the time. Neither Brough or Miller delivering the goods at the mo, so for me it'd be going back to Miller & Hamsphire in the halves and put Escare at full back. Still lacking intent and aggression in defense bar one or two players.

Not sure on your basis for this, but the ruck was a joke when Wakefield were defending.

As has been pointed out, Hulls handling in the opening 20 mins was poor but a couple of the knock on's given were simply not knock ons (Minichello plays the ball correctly, wakey player in the ruck doesn't get away or make any effort to move, gets in Houghtons ways, houghton never actually gets to the ball which is now on the prone wakey player still in the ruck. Refs Decision, Knock on by Hull!!!).

Also, the officials policing of keeping the defense back 10 metres for both sides prevented much expansive play.

Overall, it was not one for the purists.

It is "Fifita" not "Fafita"

If you don't know the difference between "there", "their" and "they're" I might get annoyed.

The infringement was by Minichello stepping forward off the mark. The rule brought in part way through the season was that if a tackling player was in the way then the player about to play the ball should take a step back to play the ball, not in front. You could clearly see the ref explain this to Mini and Houghton when the offence occurred.

If that were the case, it would have been a penalty and not a scrum with wakey feed.

Minichello stood up and played the ball. If he had stepped backwards he would have been on top of the wakey player not making any attempted to get out of the way.

Seen a few saying this and earlier in the season i agreed. Now however i don't, i don't think he is offering anything at the minute. Most sets he won't even touch the ball until the 5th tackle.

I suggest you watch a rerun of the game, Mini clearly steps forward. It was as obvious as day.

His distribution is terrible, Miller was constantly reaching above his head / down at his toes which completely kills the attacking threat.

Finn was the slowest half back to ever play the sport but his ability to attack the line and provide an accurate pass to Miller / Grix was second to none.

And, as stated a few posts back, if he stepped off the mark, that would be a penalty rather then given as a knock on with wakeys feed.

The referee just got it wrong.

He did, he didn't penalise him!

But that policing of the 10 really hurt us.
It stunted our attack when we had ball on your line.
You could easily have had 3 different players in the bin because of holding down when we got a break away. The penalty didn't help because you could regroup and get back on side.
