[quote="REDWHITEANDBLUE"]Not in the same camp as you on Hull I don't rate them that highly. With speed and mobility we should break them and with pace outside I fancy our chances at home. They were the worst team in the league bar Leigh last season[/
Said nothing about our chances against Hull ,just that I can’t wait to see how our forwards go against theirs and in particular those two props ,who every time I watched them on sky they were on form unlike the rest of the team ,who haven’t hit their straps for a number of years now .

Some of the signs were really positive yesterday. I was impressed with Isaac Shaw - who punches above his weight - as well as Corey Hall. Corey Hall looks like he could be a bit of a find. I'm in agreement with Tanginoa and Pitts being our two best second rowers. Batchelor and Ashurst are also great options in that department as squad players. Hood looked decent yesterday which was positive. Davetanivalu looks like he has potential and took a very tricky high ball under pressure as well as some very strong carries and probably clocked up a decent amount of tackle busts considering the short time he was on the field. I think Lineham could be under pressure if his trajectory continues upwards. Some of the goal line defence was good in the second half as we lost field position for a twenty minute period where Halifax had sustained pressure. i was impressed with Halifax second half and thought their half backs looked like they will cause many defences a problem. Keyes was a particular stand out. Whitbread is a shrewd signign and I'm looking forward to seeing him play. I think overall it was a positive performance and we should only get better. Hopefully we will play our potential starting thirteen in the last friendly and see the overall coherence of the team. Add Lino, Gaskell, Tupou, Fifita, Arona e.t.c into that squad and I think we should be capable of having a decent season this year.

Was saying the same about Corey Hall after the Fax game, I was thinking he would be a bit of a project signing and we may not see much of him but although he obviously still has a lot of development left in him, from what I`ve seen of him so far, he looks ready to play SL.

The only thing he is lacking is a bit of physicality that's all, He's probably a stone light and lacking that extra bit of muscle from what I can see but it's only what I see. In terms of technique etc he's as ready as it's possible to be at that age and with that experience. He looks like a natural player. as does Murphy who's in a very similar position right now (but younger).

The vibe is get is very much TJ in his debut season, lacking a bit of size and first grade experience. It's going to be very interesting watching him grow, I think come a year down the line after some minutes under his belt and a proper season he could be a very different player.

Tanginoa should play at prop, he is a beast and we want him on the ball . Hull are massive, we have Fafita and Batty, we need four props and the next inline if you don`t play Tanginoa at prop are Whitbread and Arona and thats makes us look light. From watching Whitbread on Sunday he just looks like a 13 and a good one at that. Sid is not ready yet, We look so much stronger if you play Fafita, Batty, Tanginoa and Arona as props. At the moment we have plenty of excellent options for the back row, Pitts, Ashurst, Crowther, Yudin, Whitbread to name a few.
For me Tanginoa is just not a second row, yes he is a beast but his strengths are not the defensive decision making that the modern second row has to be very good at. We are blessed having Pitts and Ashurst who are as good as anyone in this department. Also I would suggest that Tanginoa doesn't have the rugby in him to make the most of the few attacking options you get out wide in Super League, he will run over the top of or through defenders but when it comes to making the most of a three on two or two on one I am not sure that's his game. I want him in the middle, he is a handful and always a tough tackle, plus I think he handles the defensive duties better in the middle. I think he is our best player by the way and one that gets in every SL starting team.

By Yudin do you mean Aydin? In which case he's very much a prop these days, but generally I get your point.

Tanginoa is just as effective as a prop as he is a S/R. The problem is some on here seem to think that he should play the same at prop as he does in the S/R which is patently ridiculous. He plays like a prop when playing prop which is exactly what he's supposed to do. Heis not wasted at prop at all, in fact, I'd be happy if he played there all season if required, as you say tons of alternatives in the S/R.

Last I heard, Hull were struggling to put a front row together for opening round, no Kane Evans, no Scott Taylor who would be there pick of starting props, Satae and Bowden struggling with injuries as well apparently.

:D

Belly tends to totally over exaggerate the opposition to make his point.

Best thing about preseason so far is that we have no injuries. If we can get through Fev in the same state we should be ready for a good start.
