Really don’t understand all this animosity towards Carter , it’s the players that are letting themselves and the club down not Carter . Do they really need a coach to tell them the gravity of the situation or to pack down in a set time or they will be penalised ,we’re talking the very basics of RL here ,something they will have been taught in their very early start of their career to even get a chance to play in Super League much later down the line ,no one gets through just going through the motions I don’t care who they are ,they all have to put some serious work in . The trouble we have is now they’ve made it they think they are on easy St ,and for all intense and purpose they have ,and the days of hard Graf are behind them , it’s almost like it’s written in the very culture/fabric at the club , get in and then do the minimum to keep yourself in , simple . Carters shortfall for me is not his supposed arrogance but his gullible/trusting personality, by giving out long contracts like smarties ,to has been and ageing players on the say so of a coach in the midst of his own death throws ,the same players who will now hold on until the very death like bloodsuckers getting their last fix of money on a mortally wounded beast . Poching is a very likeable guy and not for one minute am I expecting him to hang his players out to dry in the media ,even though behind the scenes he must have been candescent watching that tripe unfold on Sunday . Too nice a guy will be his downfall im afraid , but we all saw how the big stick approach ended last time under BS .
Alot of this is about the on field stuff I.e. coaching staff etc. I don't think we operate too dissimilar to other teams in Super League in that respect ie. A head coach, a couple of assistants, conditioner etc.
My question is how much help behind closed doors where no one can see anything does the club pay for? Is it on par with other clubs who I assume have lots of people doing lots of work I.e. attracting more investors or sponsors or marketing the club. Or is it a closed shop and one that we are very much limiting our effectiveness? I genuinely don't know the answer. But surely some of the money we spend on the dross on the field would be better spent behind the scenes? I'll repeat I genuinely don't know the answer and it's all hypothetical talk.
