I'm not sure why Wakefield Trinity as a club are coming in for stick about 'snowgate'. As already mentioned, it's the match commissioner's call with input from the ref. The game was given the go ahead and a number of volunteers, the chairman included, did all they could to improve pitch marking visibility and shift snow from around the ground.
I checked the weather and guessed it'd be either delayed, postponed or called off at some point, but not living far from the ground I went anyway. My guess was correct, but it wasn't my call to make with regards to the game going ahead. I don't think anyone expected the sheer blizzard of snow which materialised half an hour into the first half. I've never experienced snow like that!
Maybe we can just put it down to the ubiquitous and highly tedious craze of trying to generate controversy, outrage, offence, and finding someone to blame for the situation they didn't even find themselves in?
