Yes, certainly to attract grants to help with cost of the stadium build plus, right now, participation in sport, especially women's sport, which is the current flavour of the month.
Decent bar's and corporate are hugely important as far as matchday revenue and income from other events, especially if we try and attract and bands etc and most importantly we have to secure the revenue for bar takings etc, something that other clubs dont get as it's often taken by stadium management companies.
It’s been very noticeable to me how much effort our relatively cash strapped club has put into community projects, way beyond the minimum. Women’s team, disabled teams and loads of participation - very much the community HUB.
Leads me to believe and I may be wrong is that is the angle the club are running at. Very hard even for Box to ignore these worthy but very of the moment causes, so beloved of Corbyn and co.
Not politically digging as I’m all for positive stuff like sport and well being in lower income areas - the club is very much offering the service the council can’t be bothered too. This is why I believe we are now getting some though probably nowhere near enough from our council.
It’s a slow burner but it might just work.
