11. Wakefield Wildcats Coach: John Kear (Eng, July 2006). Captain: Jason Demetriou. Player to watch: Danny Brough - mercurial scrum half orchestrator. Rising star: Aaron Murphy. 2009: Super League: fifth. Play-offs: elimination play-offs. Challenge Cup: fifth round. Attendance: 5,891.
Robbie Paul's verdict: The Wildcats are always one of the dark horses for the play-offs. Many teams see them as easybeats, but do so at their peril. Wakefield’s home ground is a hard place to steal a couple of points, as they muscle up there and their fans become a fourteenth man. Coach John Kear is one of the best motivators in the game and he consistently brings out the best from his players. ODDS: 66-1.
Now I always find BV a fairly quiet place with any generated noise getting lost in the atmosphere due to the lack of a roof. However, a few professionals always say that the old place is a hard place to visit and, as in Paul’s case, comments that the supporters become a 14th man.
Having said that he obviously doesn’t think much to Trinity’s chance next season.
