So what. Some of our best imports over the last 20 years weren't even playing resolve grade! JD for one, he went to a hotly first from bush footy as far as I recall. Korki if memory serves was voted NRL worst rookie of the year before joining us.

It's this total lack of history that shows you up as a non fan.

non fan - I am member and haven't attended a game in 10 years! but every year I pay my membership to support the club - I am entitled to a opinion.anywyas not getting in a slanggin match, I hope he works out but am just asking for a little pit of perspective that is all

It's a fair point. From the small amount I've seen him he looks like the type of player we want but he clearly isn't Cameron Smith so we need to manage our expectations.
We need something extra at hooker, even if just to take the heat off Wood but let's see how he goes.

For every one of the JDs and Korkis we have also had players that came with some obvious potential but were bagged by the fans when they didn't show it on day one and often leave and show they really have something somewhere else.

I think he will be a very good signing for you lot, a steadying influence to guide you round from dummy half. He wont be getting as many games at the knights because of Rory Kostjaysin who is a fantastic player. Think that shows in his more limited games to previous two seasons.

Look at Parcell at Leeds, went to Brisbane from Ipswich barely played. Went to Manly limited game time again but rips it up over here. Think people need to realise the standard of game here isn't what it used to be and I personally dont think we will ever get back to regularly seeing the likes of Vainikolo, Lam, Barrett, Renouf, Lyon, Furner etc ever again. Looking in the places for the Demetrious etc is the way to go for me now as you get more loyalty from players being given a chance. With the drop in standard as all the supposed big names that turn up are gone in a breath either too good and snapped back up or are lunatics that need shipping out

Kostjasyn hasn't played for the Knights all year because of an injury picked up pre-season. In fact he has just had to retire because of it. Newcastle have been played the young lad Daniel Levy and Jamie Buhrer who is principally a back rower in front of Randell this season.

One advantage he has is that he will bed in to the environment in Summer. He won't have those dark frosty mornings in the pre-season to make him wonder what on earth he has got himself into. A bit like Big Dave.

i agree with boj042, no good replacing reserve graders with more of same - why is hasson good enough for us when he's not good enough for salford...what's wrong with signing someone proven like mitch rein if we need a hooker

We are Wakefield Trinity and when we sign players we have to get value for money from our signings. We can't just throw brass around like Viv Nicholson. Who cares if a player is in NRL reserve grade. The standard down there is so much higher than ours and the competition for places is just as high as the 'player pool' is enormous compared to the UK.
I don't often agree with Vastman but he's right when he says that a number of our imports weren't even near reserve grade when they came over to us, but they were given a chance and performed admirably for us.

For what it's worth a friend 'down under' tells me that Tyler is a good standard NRL player, very low on errors, not blessed with blistering pace but more than good enough for Super League. If he settles ok he should go well at Wakey.
