Downright evil and something I fear will escalate under a Corbyn Government.

I thought long and hard about responding to this, but then I remembered the reaction when Gordon Brown called a bigoted old woman a bigot, so I won’t.

Dear Jon,

I am a constituent living in South Wakefield and also a keen supporter of Wakefield Trinity RLFC.
As the club's current ground lies within your constituency in Belle Vue, Wakefield, I would be very interested in what your thoughts are regarding the current situation that exists between Wakefield MDC, Yorkcourt (developers), 88M (owners of the Belle Vue ground) and the Community Trust that is endeavouring to get a community stadium up and running in the Wakefield area.

I would be grateful if you could let me know when your next surgery occurs at Kettlethorpe in order that I could put these points to you personally and hear any views on the subject that you may hold direct.

Kind regards

Redscat

I bet you’ve been told a million times not to exaggerate. This could be one of the most stupid posts amongst many on this site. (I know but mine are not stupid just questioning)
I could point out that I have never known this country to be so divided and the majority of the population so fed up with austerity. The one thing that has risen is the number of vulnerable people.

If you think you've seen Austerity it's nothing to what you'll get after couple years of a Corbyn/McDonald Government. After the flight of capital and a distribution of cash from the productive to unproductive it will trash the tax base leaving very little of public services that most rely on.

How can you possibly, in good conscience and (I assume) being of sound mind, talk about flight of capital and the tax base, in light of the Panorama revelations?! Billions of £'s in taxes are evaded by corporations and wealthy individuals every year, through a rigged set of complex arrangements created and allowed by our own government, and you still hang on to the idea that anyone suggesting that people pay their fair share, are somehow swivel-eyed lunatics proposing something radical that will bring down the economy?

7 years of austerity - public services ravaged, wage inflation at the lowest in the G7 and child poverty at an all time high - but we must cut our cloth, and "we're all in it together"; apart from the cosy club of super wealthy people who legislate and behave in each others favour, contrary to the interests of the vast majority of the population. And still some victims of this rigged system support the people who work to keep them down; forelock tugging and knowing your place seems to be a British disease - I despair.

When I started this thread my intention was to point out local political issues and not national ones. Lets all just pull back from this heavy national political stuff and remember we are all after the same thing here.

However seeing as its raised, I just wonder if there is somewhere in all that massive dossier called the paradise papers, a small little article that mentions Tillion and Javine. Names from the past but their significance still resonates to this day.

While agreeing with you on that tax dodgers it's one of the hardest things to clamp down on and hard line socialism will only make the situation a lot worse endless example of failures demonstrate this. Trashed tax bases followed by austerity is all that follows, just look at Corbyns friend in Venezuela. The poor and less off well suffer in the long run. If we want better public services (while running a deficit and increasing nation debt) we have to spend more efficiently and raise more taxes that means everyone paying more but the trouble is nobody want to pay more tax and I mean nobody. It's easier to believe that a magic pot of gold is available to sort out the countries problems. It's often said in Politics that we have to elect a Socialist Government once a generation for people to understand its effects and i fear that won't be long now.

Re: John 'THE TRICKSTER' Trickett : Tue Nov 07, 2017 12:22 pm
I don't see Labour advocating hardline socialism; they do advocate a socialistic model, where capitalism and strong social programmes co-exist quite happily - and there are many examples of that model working extremely well all over the world i.e Denmark, Finland, The Netherlands, Canada, Sweden, Norway, Belgium etc. Clearly there is a total paradigm shift in societal attitudes required to make it work, not least a removal of the subject mentality that has so many working class people behaving obsequiously towards their betters/oppressors - but that's not beyond the pale. Thatcher convinced us that greed was good and there was no such thing as society - over time, that attitude could be adjusted. A good start would be admitting that there actually is a magic money tree - and it costs the exchequer c£120 billion per year in lost tax revenue.

The Venezuela thing is a useful example of whataboutery, but it means nothing in this context.

I assume by hard line socialism you mean the following:
Being born - free.
GP - free.
Surgery - free
Dentistry - discounted or indeed free.
Education to 16/18. - free.
Not forgetting the other aspects of the state: I.e. The infrastructre, social services, DWP, police & fire service - largely/grossly discounted to the point that it's virtually free.

Damn those socialists wanting a fairer society where we all have a chance to live!

You might be happy deehell, to live off the scraps from a table you're allowed to serve, but never sit at, but I'm not.

Disagree Corbyn and his sidekick are nearer the Venezuelan model. Maybe £120 billion is achievable but it won't come at opportunity cost. Taxation changes behaviour and and capital flight will be destroy the countries tax base. the productive will have to further subsidise the unproductive. The argument is seductive, the moral high ground and you solve all the countries problems without paying more tax, dream on.
