I've met Eric a few times and I assume he was trusted to be on the current Trust, so I assume not all bad. I know that he is a fan of the club and attends games home and away, and was a club director when the whole Newmarket thing started. I'd like to think he'd act in the clubs best interests as a fan. CB and MC might have their own views as to how well he runs a club, and at least Rodney isn't currently involved, but that doesn't mean he'd act against the interests of the club.
If we work on the assumption that Box does not want to deal with the club owners directly, Eric might be a good choice, if it's a way of getting the job done. I can't imagine he'd act against the best interests of the club.
Perhaps I'm being too charitable, but if this is the best way of achieving what is hoped to be achieved, fine. If, however, it's the beginning of a route to herald the return of Rodney, then we know it stinks.
Let's see what happens and then judge. I can't imagine Eric would want to be involved with something that would ultimately cause the club to end up being booted out of Super League. Those more closely involved might be more cynical than me, I accept that.
Slugger the question is why does Box not want to deal with the club owners ? the answer is that the club owners want Box to delivery a stadium, as promised fit for the Community whist Box wants to destroy the club, keep Yorkcort, 88m and Walker happy and rich. There is no deal to do whilst ever Box is around or when BV is the amswer

Unfortunately, we'll only find out at the end of everything. Thinking pragmatically, if Box and Co don't intend to deliver a stadium, one will not be delivered, regardless of who is on the Trust. If, however, Box wants to deal with different people because he wants to avoid blame for the delay, by saying that it was the attitude of the original Trust that was the stumbling block, but a stadium follows, I can live with that. Let him have his day on the winners podium.
The issue is whether any new Trust delivers a stadium on terms acceptable to the club. If not, then it stinks. If so, fine. It's the desired outcome that matters, not how it is achieved.
The fact that Eric was on the Trust until last week, and is a fan of the club, just makes me think it might be okay, and that this is Box's way of saving face when the new Trust achieves the deal.
If the end result is nothing, it was always going to be nothing, and we've lost nothing, but I cant see Eric wanting to be part of that.
How utterly depressing are the shenanigans of Wakefield Council. Box, Jeffries et all have zero interest in a future for Wakefield Trinity and it makes my blood boil just thinking of what they are scheming up now to yet again shaft our club.

I understand what you are saying, however, IF you are correct in your assumptions, that would point to MC & CB being the "stumbling block" and quite frankly, after all that they have done for Trinity since they took over, I just dont buy it. Of course they have a substantial stake in Trinity and they would be expected to, first and foremost, protect that stake. However, this just smells like Box STILL not wanting to enforce any stadium build, despite what has gone on at Newmarket and with Newcold and that he wishes to deal with his "cronies".
The issue that irks most Trinity fans is that any new stadium/re-build / community facilities, looks further away now than they have ever done and as a Trinity fan for 30 years and having been through thin and thinner and protested outside County Hall and the Town Hall, it breaks my heart that the political will in the district, to get this done, still remains at ZERO.
Massive credit is due to MC & CB for the position the club both on and off the field, which apart from the stadium, is the best it's been for all of the 30 years that I've been following Trinity and this is utterly in spite of those who have put and are still putting self interest above Wakefield Trinity.
Box must laugh when he considers the cul de sac that Trinity are being driven down and it's an utter disgrace that this can happen in a democracy, both at local and National level.
Such a shame as I always knew Ted was dodgy even though I quite liked him but Eric I always found a gent and I'm surprised. However old men who have had power find it hard to let go and Eric has clearly sucummed. However I have no doubt Ted has been involved and along with Walker is lurking in the shadows which as already noted would be a total disaster.
One thing I would like to implore MC to do is not give way to these two parasites, you've done some tremendous stuff don't let them rob you of the rewards and the credit,
I'd honestly rather the club go bust than have that Walker and Ted back. Don't normally indulge in back slapping but they don't deserve to get their grubby hands on what you two have created

Spot on! Be a step back to the dark ages with any of that trio worming their way back into having anything to do with club. Maybe they are lifelong fans of the club, but deffo put their own interests before that of the clubs.
No it's not sopt on imo though I get feelings are high.
I'm annoyed and dissapointed with his decision however in Erics case he did his best as the financial director under trying circunstances for a lot of years. He may be the villian now but he was'nt then.
You do recall what MC's position was at the club when Glover was here? Do you want to tar him with that brush as well?
I've really no idea what Erics motives are, but imho they are wrong - knowing him a little I suspect he feels they are right, that's the shame as in his case I suspecthe is a decent man making a poor choice - no need for a character assasination plaese.
