Unfortunately the true Wakefield Team only turned uo for the second half. A very poor 1st half lost it for us.

Yes we were poor first half and to me starting with Pauli is a mistake.

However the reason we lost it was poor tactics. I believe they scored 8 pts by taking the kick at goal.

We turned down at least two chances of an easy kick when we were 8 pts behind and the plays we did lead to nothing. Smarter tactics would have got us a draw at the very least

That first 20 minutes was so disappointing considering how well we went on to play. Have to comment on the amount of injury time Warrington used. Whilst I would always be respectful when a player on either side is injured today a couple from Warrington were very dubious when we were on the front foot in particular Roberts.

Also just realised we scored 5 trys to 4. Not taking the various 2 pts on offer just highlights dumb tactics even more.

Chester has acknowledged in his post match press conference we should have taken 2 in front of the posts when 8 behind

Wow, what a game.

Don't know what to make, whether to be proud of the second half effort, or to bemoan our start.

Full credit to Warrington, they brought their offloading game and we couldn't handle them in the opening quarter.

Disappointing though, that first 20, given how a win for us, could have been a significant marker for the remains games this season.

We really did fight hard for ourselves in that 2nd half.

As for referees, can't blame him for the 20 point start. My main gripe if any, was how lenient he was regarding off side. Why don't players these days though, is when a team ate off side, why don't they try a chip over the top.

Win together, lose together, let's dust ourselves down now and focus on next week, and hopefully put in 80 minutes

To be fair chasing the game with minutes to go teams rarely go for two although logically it makes sense.

Ultimately we started appallingly and couldn't live with the speed of Warrington. Johnstone had a game to forget and Hampshire got caught too many time with the ball. Credit to the team for making it so close and that -2 points difference could be important come the end of the year.

To be fair to them, when the penalty was awarded, Warrington looked dead on their feet, and there were a few players put on their launches. We certainly looked to have another try in us.

If anything, when we got the ball back, was it Miller that moved ball out to Lyne, maybe a kick and chase over top would have been a better option

We've pointed this out to CC on this forum many, many times. Wire proved this by scoring less tries but going for the "two" when appropriate. Great second half. We always step up a couple of gears when Woody comes on. An unsung hero in my books.

To be fair, Warrington kicking was excellent today. All their early conversions were on the touch line and when they had to change kicker they kept going over.
I did think the two when 8 points behind was a good shout at the time but it would have been a sign of going for the draw as well.
I kinda like that they thought they could score......even if they didn't in the end.

Close game but Warrington were better than us for slightly longer in the game.

I think another ten minutes and we'd have won it but unfortunately it doesn't work that way.
I know Johnstone has been knocked earlier in the thread but to my knowledge he received few passes during the game and one of those was pulled back for a forward pass and the other from Pauli was a shocker.
Disappointingly we don't seem to be able to unlock the match winning potential of our wingers.
