It is the refs fault, the rule changes a while ago.

The RFL statement read: “Following a review of the first two weeks of the Betfred Super League season, it has become clear that some players are deliberately passing a ball into a player with the sole intention of forcing the Match Official to award a penalty for offside.”

“Having reviewed these incidents, Rugby Football League Head of Match Officials, Steve Ganson, has written to all Head Coaches and made it clear that in these situations, Match Officials have now been instructed to consider Section 15 (i) of the Laws of the Game which state that a player is guilty of misconduct if he behaves in any way contrary to the true spirit of the game.

“This does not in any way absolve a defender of his responsibilities to clear the ruck and the defending team will still be penalised should the Match Official deem he is interfering with play.”

He isn't SL standard, I don't blame him for that his bosses have thrown him in.

They all start somewhere and get better with experience, over the years we just appear to get more of the junior refs.

Some ‘odd’ decisions last night and I had. Fair few pops at the ref from the terrace but hopefully he’ll learn and get with the pace of SL. Not good to see a ref command so little respect from Huddersfield who were taking the p1ss with the offside whilst standing right next to him on occasion

You’re wrong again stop digging. It’s discretionary which means the ref can award in either direction. When he gets it wrong like in this case it’s his fault not the rule.

It isn't discretionary.
The rule is that you have to clear the ruck.
It's discretionary whether to penalise a player for deliberately throwing the ball at a player.
I know you finf it hard to believe that people can have a different opinion to you but alas that is the case.
And TC agreed with me on the commentary too.

I'm not saying the ref was great. I think he got the knock-on obstruction thing wrong on Rocky' s freeplay chip but that still doesn't make him a cheat.

Yes it is or why does constantly Thaler wave them away - you can’t have it both ways - one of them must have got it wrong. My understanding is that the refs were given the option halfway through last season to adjudge whether it was gamesmanship or not. There are a number of rules in RL that are open to interpretation you do realise that? It’s both the beauty and curse of most sports otherwise the game would be utterly robotic.

I’ll help you out hear seeing as this seems to be your line in the sand issue. I’ll call it wilful negligence rather than cheating if that helps.

So I agree with you. The ref wasn't cheating. Thank you for finally agreeing

Cant we just all agree that the ref wasn't the best and that Trinity got the rough and of the stick and move on

We have the pleasure of Wigan next week and in Kevin Keegan style, I would just love it if we can demolish the pies
