I think one of our problems (and I say problems tongue-in-cheek, as it's not a bad one to have) is that we have four players who are of equal or similar ability. At some clubs, the half-back pairing or full back have obvious first choices. In our case, our half-back pairings are either Brough-Miller, Miller-Rocky, Miller-Jowitt, Brough-Jowitt, Brough-Rocky, Rocky-Jowitt, but they are all so similar in quality that it is hard to pick a winner. Similarly at full-back, not much to choose between Rocky and Jowitt, and Walker was good last year at London.
How a coach chooses, I don't know. Do you pick Miller-Jowitt because you think Rocky is a better full-back, or Miller-Rocky because Rocky is a better stand-off, or whatever combination? And factor in Brough, who can be superb with his kicking game on the right day, it's a coaches nightmare. Any combination sort of works, but every combination leaves one of the four out. And with Walker, five.
The coach and his staff work with the players all week and will have a lot better idea what's working and what isn't, so for me it's better to put personal preferences to one side and let them get on with it, one thing for sure, without trying to insult anybody, most fans think they know better and for every half a dozen he pleases it will balance itself out with those he upsets
I did say at the end who'd be a coach, as a fan you have to respect the coaches decisions he'll stand or fall by those, that's why I don't criticise, all I will say is he's in a privileged position doing a job he loves and getting paid reasonably well for it, personally I'm not really bothered who plays where, and it makes sense to bring Fifita and Brough back this week, but bringing sentiment into it, which tbh Chester can't afford that you can't help feeling sorry for Max, I also agree with what Wrencat said when he said that Chester picks his favourites and fwiw I honestly don't think that Max is.
I alluded to your last sentence in a post elsewhere. CC seems to have his favourites and for whatever reason Max Jowitt doesn't seem to be one of them.

Yes and we have seen him play in many games with below par performances. He may look good in training but in a game not so and these are what matters. If he was playing with a weakened squad then yes play Brough but we are not therefore stick with what as been working.

Or alternatively, realise that Max is actually injured.......

But that doesn’t fit with the agenda does it?
You do know you've spoiled a good thread DC? One thing that has come out of all this Max Jowitt thing, is his value as a genuine utility player. On that alone he's worth his weight in gold.
Slightly o/t but, having just at a peak at the Bulls website to have a look at their squad for Friday, they have a great feature on there about their opposition (us). We should think about "borrowing" this idea for our own website.
Interestingly, there are no ex Trinity players in their squad, which, in respect of meetings between the two sides, must be the first time for a while but, they are claiming 4 ex Bulls in our side, Jay Pitts being one of them - even though he was with Trinity first !
