Flower is a free agent (I assume now Toronto are no more) and starting to string some good performances together after a couple of below par years.

He is a tough experienced Prop who has played in and won a number of finals.

If Wakey are in a position to not go for that type of player with proven quality and leadership because of what he did a number of years ago then that’s great.

Must have some quality lined up.

Maybe they do have great crowds and a great city. All the way over in Canada. How does that help our problems in this country? I’d rather have a second French team in.

Can we now put the whole crazy idea of North American clubs behind us and concentrate on the game over here? When we get out of this crisis there's going to be enough to worry about getting our own clubs back to some sort of normality.

Must have missed where Newton broke Sean Longs jaw and sparked out Lee Gilmore...in the same game picking up a 10 game ban. If you put together a top 10 highlight real of dirty or foul play Flower would be at the top with his actions against Hohia, the hit on Long by Newton would be a very close second and the next 8 places would all be occupied by Newton too.

I’m not having a go at Newton by the way, I loved the bloke and the way he played regardless of the colour of his shirt.

Some fans though tend to have very short memories once a played signs for their team, especially when they are putting it about and pushing boundaries in matches, in fact they tend to get a bit of a cult style following by the fans.

I remember the stick Newton used to get and also the likes of Westerman in his Cas days all be it for different reasons.

I also remember the chants of “Johnny’s going to get you!” from the Trinity faithful. I don’t think they were expecting him to give the opposition hard man a kiss.

I’m not disputing what Flower did was wrong, but he is a free agent, been in and around a successful system, has been part of that clubs leadership team and is still playing some good rugby.

He also generally isn’t the type of prop to give a daft penalty. He just plays it very tough and aggressive.

If we don’t need that, fine, I just think if we don’t we must have an ace or 2 up our sleeve.

I like the idea of a tw in super league but with covid timings are all wrong and as usual you get a wealthy benefactor who pays over the odds for average sl players and leaves when it all falls apart if they had put strucure in place and progressed their own players through over a few years then it would work out better than sign an over the hill player on a salary three times higher than clubs like ours pay for the whole team

What do Toronto bring the the super league party that Bradford, fetherstone, widnes, Leigh, even up and coming york would'nt.

The bloke was out cold on the floor and then followed up with another cowardly full blown punch to the head, Lance had to retire due to ongoing problems, wasn’t just your standard stiff arm or even not having a chance to defend yourself , my opinion on it unless my eyes deceive me.

Toronto should never have been allowed into League One never mind Super League in the first place, however Covid 19 meant they never stood a chance, literally thrown em to the wolves.

That press release should’ve been released when they first submitted their application!

Totally agree, not trying to defend it.

Just saying Newton’s hit on Long was nearly as bad, and then he went on to knock out another player in the same match. If you can’t remember it google it. You could at least say Flowers was in retaliation, not that that excuses it at all.

Most people make mistakes. He got a ban and I also believe the incident affected his form for a couple of years. He served his punishment.

Quite what that has to do with if we could be an asset to Trinity I don’t know.

If you don’t think he would be, fair enough.

I think he would be and he is available so is a realistic target, fair enough.
