Sorry Vasty I have never moved on Leeds are our arch rivals no one else.

Cas for me always has been.

We can’t compete with Leeds these days, that’s not to say we can’t beat them but realistically they are and always will be a much bigger club.

We should be a bigger and better club than Cas in every single way but we are not. That pees me off much more than anything Leeds ever do.

I can accept money talks but Cas are not rich, are at the extreme end of their potential in terms of support and player development yet in the last forty years they have consistently outperformed us bar two occasions.

I’ll take on Leeds when we’ve finally gained the ascendency over Cas. Until we do that trying to match Leeds seems a waste of time for me.

Bradford’s downfall to me was there obsession to match Leeds not just on but off the field and they couldn’t. There vanity regarding Harris was the beginning of the end.

So my logic is fight the battles you can realistically win.

The secret of Leedds success is, if there in trouble the money people behind Leeds ,club together and come up with the cash to buy a player e.g. The standoff they got from Salford a few year ago when it looked as they were going down .Would be interesting to find out how much det there in .Know there renting a lot of there new stands so it does not show in balance sheet .

Prior to redeveloping the stadium the club had around £8m in the bank.

Obviously that's been used up now and they have had to borrow to pay for the rest of the redevelopment but that will pay for itself - although no doubt the current situation is outside the absolute worst scenario they would have assumed. The financial arrangements for the stands were for Leeds Council and Yorkshire's benefit, not Leeds.

Either way don't worry about Leeds, they're pretty much the only club in the league which is long-term financially stable and viable.

Local rivals while we were at the top and people of that generation will I'm sure keep that feeling.

Correct, the generation who were lucky enough to witness the great 60s team, Leeds were and still are the local rivals they don’t even recognise cas. Me starting watching Trin in the mid 80s I’ve always classed cas and fev as main rivals although my Dad’s dislike of Leeds RL has rubbed off on me. Get Belle Vue done up keep progressing as we are and we can be big again.

Correct Kev.
On another thread, I have just said forgive and forget. :)
However, when it comes to Dirty Leeds, I make an exception to that.

I’d love to know where you got that from because no club in the history of RL has ever had anything like 8 million in the bank. They may have realised 8 million in potential borrowing but 8 million in cash, not even close.

Can I see the bank statement please?

It’s not just RL though. When I first move to Wakey in 1975 things were different. although Leeds was clearly a bigger city it was nowhere near as marked as it is today. Wakefield no longer has the population or the business sector to match Leeds.

We have to be honest Wakefields credentials as a city have been severely eroded in recent years and I can’t see that changing as super cities take over - see Manchester.

We can be a great team again and we can even avenge that final but we will never match Leeds in income and thus buying power. They are in truth the only big city team in RL, all the rest even Wigan are essentially town teams.

We will have to be shrewd and play the long game and take our chances where we can. But with Leeds buying power they will still always have a huge advantage no matter how well we do. They will always be able to sustain themselves no matter how much they underperform. We on the other hand can’t afford a single slip.

Chemical town on the other hand really should be well within our grasp.

It`s good to have the rivalry but no idea where the dirty Leeds comes from.
But I`m sure you will enlighten me of all the sending offs we have had compared to other clubs.

Syd Hynes, chapy lad. First player in Wembley history to be sent off. That's a bad enough record for a start.
