Thats' the point, that isn't fitness that's being past it. Ashurst, Arona, Green, and a few others are spent as It's not always an age thing. Some players last forever but some have a short window of effectiveness and we have far too many of those players, especially in the forwards, So limited in ability our conditioner maybe some of our players are so far past their sell-by date nobody could bring them back to the level we require.

That's the thing vasty, correct again. But correct me if I am wrong a good and knowledgeable conditioner who works hard could help solve this. He should follow the players closely and start to spot these signs. He should have a close working relationship with the coach and between them they should pick up the early warning signals. When contracts end they should be fully aware of a players ability to carry on delivering or if they are spent. How on gods earth they had not spotted that certain players were well past their best shows their ineptitude.

Maybe he has but nobody is listening? Who knows but I did shudder when Ashurst got a new deal. He's been a fabulous servant but he along with Arona and Atupou have taken one injury too many and they all should be able to spot that.

We need older heads nobody can deny that but they have to have a minimum level of wellbeing and we seem to be ignoring that.

Wonder if any of the 4 signings he's talking about today are middles.

Let's hope so, though we need them now and not for 2022

Lots of Posters on here, for one reason or another, now agree it's time for a change of coach.
I thinks CC is a good bloke and obviously has Trinity at heart, but the players aren't doing it for him so I feel a change is better for all concerned
BUT it's not going to happen is it?
I've followed this club a long time and had ups and downs, but I just can't see how the players will turn this round.
I think it's a case of change of coach but by heck some of the players should walk also.
I agree with CC on that, that some of them are simply not good enough (perhaps because some are past their sell by date)

Sorry mate, but I’m not buying this good bloke and has the club at heart routine anymore. If he loves the club that much then why is he milking it dry, because that is what he is doing. I also don’t recall him kicking the door down to come and play for us either. We’re the only gig in town and he knows it!

The thing is i think in time he would get another gig, maybe as assistant at first but eventually as head coach somewhere, maybe in the championship. Even a stint in Union to broaden his horizons. But the longer he stays and fails here the more long term damage he is doing to his career. The worse his record gets the more unemployable in the future he becomes and it has to be affecting him mentally. For his own good he should step down, take stock and move forward whilst he still can because much more of this his reputation will be shot to pieces for good.

No point in buying more second row players as we have so many old second row players under contract. The one good second row man we had Mr Chester decided to make him a prop and against Huddersfield did not look half the player he was.Young Batch who is far better than JC and Ashurst is out of contract .This Coach as not got a clue

The names I am hearing are ok but not earth shattering. None will have the effect of likes brough drew or solomona. Few if any would get a gig at a top club. Typical ok wakey signings and we have to be realistic. However when you factor in that if things run to form ,those players will have at least 10% drop in form under our coaching. So I just think this is a bit of desperate gesture by the club who refuse to face the real problem. Having said that their signings would be good if we are brutal and remove the rubbish. Unfortunately ones that need removing are still on contract.

So if they do agree terms with Batch, are you saying he has got a clue and you were wrong on this subject?

Wakefield have already confirmed the signing of Lee Gaskell from the Giants, while Rugby League Live has previously revealed the club are chasing Liam Hood, Tom Lineham and Samisoni Langi.

Or maybe Batch is keeping his options open?
Ashurst would have snapped the hand off for a 3 year deal and maybe JC still thinks re-signing at Wakey is his best option at the moment?
