I think we all love seeing young players come through and are right to get excited about them, particularly when they make a big impact early on.

What we need to do is manage our expectations. All supporters want to see top young talent pulling on their teams shirt but as fans we also need to understand they will have bad days, or maybe even seasons after their initial impact. Young players are rarely as good as people tend to think when they make the initial impact or as bad as they sometimes become regarded as when they have a dip in form.

There are obviously some exceptions but the likes of Farrell, Sculthorpe, Ellis, Cunningham, Tomkins and Roby's are the exception rather than the rule.

I do think coaches and clubs need to be a bit more vocal about managing expectations of young players. Some make the odd passing comment on it however I think external pressures of promoting a young player in the hope it gets the club in the spotlight and maybe attracting some more fans can often over shadow this.

Is anyone lining up Corey Hall for a NRL move? To be fair Pryce is an exciting young player, but that's all he is right now. Let him male the mistakes young kids do, he will learn from them. The likes of Matthew Shaw complaining about the harshness of the ban is laughable, I imagine had it been a Gareth Hock or another player of similar repute, no one would bat an eyelid about the 10 game ban.

He's not been bigged up, has he. He's just a player who got a chance earlier than expected and took it with both hands.

A better example would be Murphy, we've possibly got on the edge of getting carried away with this lad, though nothing like Pryce. The potential is there but for now, that's all, what we can't do is proclaim him as the new TJ tempting though it is, he's simply nowhere near at the moment.

Why did you bring Hampshire into the debate about Pryce, I don’t remember him ever being lauded like Pryce so the comparison is purely based on your own prejudice because you need to justify why he was not retained by us.
I would point out that if we sign Escare which apparently we are looking to do then it somewhat shows that we were incorrect to let Hampshire go and our strategy was wrong. I have no problem if we do sign him because he certainly provides cover and improves the squad.

  You really are a truth twister. Hampshire has been a hyped prospect since he was a junior, and rightly so as he was exceptional at underage level, the best HB of his generation was one we used to get regularly, have a trawl through the previous posts on this forum. Why do you think he ended up at Wigan as a junior, you really are a ridiculous poster. Imho it's been instrumental in derailing his career because people assumed that this would carry on into his adult career and as yet it hasn't, yet they persist in blaming everyone else instead of accepting that he's good but not that good.

He's a spot-on example to hold up against Pryce, but you argue with the wind if it makes you feel better.

Oh and try and have the good manners to use the Quote function, so we know what point you are actually replying to, instead of covering your tracks. Thanks.

The ban shouldn't reflect his potential in any way. Nor should matter whether the guy was OK and was able to shake hands.
It was a very dangerous tackle that he didn't even try to pull out of. Could have been life changing injuries caused.
10 matches is fair in my opinion.
Apparently they were pushing for 12 but the player and club pleaded the case as he hadn't been in trouble before and showed remorse.

Well first of all according to a previous post of yours it was the club that let him go by not offering him a new contract, the exact reasons not been made available for whatever reason/s, so perhaps you can explain why the club, apart from your own opinion are incorrect to let him go, and since when have you been privvy to the clubs strategy regarding recruitment? .
Finally you say you have no problem if the club sign Escare as he would be a valuable member of the squad, good point which I agree, but the point I don't get is why cause mischief in the first place with your contradictory post.

If we sign Escare(quote) it is a strange one though we had got Gaskell to cover full back and 6 or 7 .Would be great to have Escare here but why

I doubt if many outside our club really rate Hall that much. We big him up cause he's ours and currently outstanding. The whole of Super League fan base are aware of Pryce and his so called potential. I would only compare Mikey Lewis to Pryce.

I would say it was because they thought Gaskell would be a better option. The signing of Escare who is an Hampshire type of player obviously shows that they actually needed this cover. I would like to see what your opinion is because you are very good at questioning others without giving answers yourself. Why do you think they did not offer Hampshire a contract and do you think it was the correct decision if they are now looking at signing Escare.
