Please answer me this. What is the difference financially between paying back a loan on a monthly basis and paying ground rent as an anchor tenant every year?

I'll tell you, the former will eventually stop whilst continually reducing pro-rata due to inflation as time goes by. The latter will never end and will only increase with inflation.

Thus Trinity will soon look rather attractive compared to most clubs. Think about it.

so whoever came in to buy the club for £1 would have to take the 4.5 million debt and yes I'm including the debt to the council, which although interest free as to be paid back when we start using the new facilities. Is it 20 grand a month if so it's a long way to go before it becomes an investment.

Huddersfield are currently playing some first class Rugby are third in the table, are investing in their academy, have hired a top class coach, play in a modern stadium with excellent facilities and still the Huddersfield public do not come to watch. Ken Davey has financially supported and invested in Huddersfield for several years and yet the public do not support him. Last I heard is that he continues to plough in £ 600,000 a year just to balance the books.
Personally I think Rugby League under sells itself, match day tickets and season tickets prices are ridiculously cheap. We are always looking to promote cheap give aways, Kids for a quid etc etc.
I remember the promotion season under Andy Kelly, we were just about unbeaten that season, I think only Widnes had beaten us at home, I can`t remember the end of season play off system but basically we finished top of league and played Widnes at home for a place in the final. So basically we had a great team, a great coach, were top of the table, were a winning side and only 1,100 fans turned up for the semi final. We should have had 5,000 turn up. Maybe Wakefield and Huddersfield are just not as Rugby mad a population as we would like to think.

Dont think we are that cheap. It would cost me just £5 more to watch Leeds Utd than Wakey.
Iknow,i know !! Some would say i want paying to watch them. But all joking appart joe public who we are trying to attract would always make such a comparison

I agree entirely other than the kids for a quid. If you're ever going to get them later it's at that age you need to at least put the idea in their heads.

There are two issues here, chicken and egg.

The most luxurious rebuilding of BV will barely make an impact long term on the fan base without on-field success.

However, without BV being fit for purpose you simply will not attract fans purely by winning something, and you certainly won't retain them. In other words you will be incapable of exploiting any success. A bit like an impotent man pulling Miss World, it can only end up badly.

So which needs to come first, for me its got to be the ground, and I know you know that.

The next few years are the real make of break for Trinity, all that's gone before was just a warm up. The difference between us and Hudds is a simple one. They must now know Hudds is not RL mad or fertile, where as we don't know that yet as we've never been in a position to test it.

If we get the balance right and there is a hunger for the game in WMDC then happy days, if not then who knows.

I think what Mopsey is trying to say is that selling the club for a pound, when there is a loan outstanding, doesn't mean it costs a pound. You are agreeing to pay the amount if the debt.
So it's absolutely an investment if the value of the asset is worth the loan amount......but just like your mortgage or car loan, if something happens to the value of the asset, you still have to pay .

Correct, until we at least offer day out comparable in terms of comfort, safety etc we are on a hiding to nothing. You just can't ask all but the most devoted to go to BV more than once. Yes £25 is far to expensive for BV to expect a casual or slightly interested to pay and get hooked, it's not cheap.

I have a nephew in law who really wants to come to a game but I've put him off for a few years now. The end of next season will hopefully be the first time I will be able to invite him with any reasonable expectations of creating a long term fan.
