Thank god for a sportsman with character and personality, all be it a very weird one.

It's players like Lineham who will pull us through, those who will back themselves and do something different. If Mash can get this lad on board he could be the surprise package of 2023.

Interesting that he and a number of other players seemed to fail to connect with Poching, odd because he seemed to give the impression of being a players coach.

If and it's only an if players left due to a clash with WP, then if nothing else it puts an end to this silly idea that MC gets involved in player signings, where as it appears from this that it's purely down to the current coach.

If I was Poching I'd be ok with not being on the same wave length as this guy.
But I don't need him to be normal. I need him to play to his best, and not weird out the team or coach.

they have also named the last ten minutes of every training session as 'Tommy time', named after the very same. What that actually means I'm not sure.

My Guess is that they get the tackle bags out and practice actually doing some defensive work.

What an interview

Haven’t been a lineham fan at all, but he seems like a real character.

Hope he backs it up this year and performs well

I enjoyed it, in fact, it was hilarious and if, what was said is even close to correct, he may have a decent season.
However, it's worth remembering that he fell off the perch at both FC and Wire.

Having said that, he knows Applegarth well and they seem to get along so, maybe we have a superstar in our ranks !

I'm in the positive camp. The lad obviously has the ability and him coming back and raring to go can only be good for competition , keeping all our wingers focussed.
Hope he has a great season.

Re: Lineham : Wed Dec 21, 2022 5:08 pm
Absolute gold interview.....
He's totally out to lunch, pots for rags, a sandwich short of a picnic.....
But - he;s fitter, keen and if he is the best over 30m that's saying something with the competition that he'd have in the squad.
He looks fitter and for me - as I've said before - he gets a clean slate for 2023.
Good luck to him........
No more is he "The Flying Pig" :P
He is now ........... "The Nutjack!"

I dont think it was Willie that was an issue it may have been someone else

Nah. It was Willie in this case or at least the coaching team, he more or less says so in the interview, despite the myth the BOD do not interfere.

Nah it wasn't Willie and it wasn't our current coach that should be a clue

Not really, no. As WP has gone and nobody else has left yet Lineham has improved (it would appear) I can't see the clue. It clearly can't be the usual whipping boy/conspiracy nuts favourite MC, so I'm at a loss. Sorry.

FC

I got told the very same a couple of weeks ago....basically that the senior players weren't happy with the defensive tactics they were being told to stick to, so did it their way, which directly resulted in us winning all the games we did at the back end of the season

That's the kind of stuff conspiracies are made of.
It's never as simple as that.
And the defensive issues earlier in the year were often a one on one issue rather than structure.
We improved when players came back from injury and when Shaul managed the defensive line.

Im of the opinion the issue was shared or maybe leaning more towards the coaching imo based on was told around the time he went on loan and the reasons why. Some mentioned above I heard. Correct or not I don’t know.

These things are rarely clear cut but I hope he comes back strong this season.

Going back to Lineham, you could have something there. He dosnt seem to be the brightest button and maybe he never grasped the concept of a one on one tackle
