I think SOL has been a good player and great club man throughout his career however I would not be putting him in the same league as the likes of Farrell no matter how many trophy's he has "Led" Wigan to throughout the years - Agree Wigan look better with him on the pitch, but we looked better with Liam Finn on the pitch last season and I would not be putting him down as a fantastic player.

I think sometimes as a sport we over-sell a players ability which is probably due to many years of Eddie and Stevo labelling your average joe`s as "World class" - One that particular sticks in my head is a few years back Stevo labelling Richard Horne "World class" as he once threw a half decent pass. One player I have never got the hype around is Micky Mac, the whole argument surrounding who was the better nine out of him and Roby really did have me baffled. Can we not just say a players a good player when they are a good player? If a Richard Horne is world class then where do we go for the likes of Thurston and Inglis?

Correct. People have been labelling SOL as world class since the first time he played - it's been said so often that many people see it as fact but others don't. Added to that Wigan fans like Cas fans are renowned for over egging young players SOL is one Westerman at Cas and currently at Wigan it's Manfredi who although he's a decent player he can do no more than half a dozen other SL wingers. Yet after one game back some Wigan fans were disgusted that he hadn't been picked for GB!

Never underestimate the power of propaganda and just how much of it there is in RL.

Aye and they're a lot quicker to hype up players from the big 4/5, where it's far easier to impress with a "better" group of players around you.

I agree he comes with a lot of baggage both on and off the field. What really troubles me is that our recent track record with bad boys of RL is not too impressive. We have handled the aftermath but the problem is we have not stopped them from relapsing.
I fail to understand why a 36 year old who I believe is now having trouble accepting that he is not the player he was and his frustration leads to his on field stupidity which we cannot afford.
We did lose a few close games but Hampshire was not playing at 7 so we should give him a chance for a full season. We have three who can play in the halves we don’t need a fourth especially one like Brough.

Well a fair few have. Clearly a player that divides opinion. I don't mind that it's just that one side rather arrogantly assumes they are right and those who disagree are dullards - odd double standard isn't it

As a matter of interest which side do you come down on?

I spoke to Richard Thewlis on Sunday he told me that Giants would be announcing the signing of Frawley on Monday and that Uate would be announced on Thursday.I asked him about Brough he said he was definitely going to Wakefield but had not signed as yet as the Wakefield chairman was on holiday and he was confident that when he got back that the deal will go through and Brough is without a doubt going to Wakefield

It’s not irony I’m playing you.

Does this herald a silly money bid for Johnstone or have you got another wackaday theory on this one?
