I think the whole distance from here/there is a smokescreen. People will travel to watch Trinity. How many hard-core fans go to every home game and most away games too? I see the same faces home and away, week in week out - I cannot and do not believe they will simply stop going because it is a 4 or 5 mile drive further to Glasshoughton. The hard-core will be largely retained, plus new supporters will be drawn in by the promise of the new stadium - wasn't that one of the main plus-points to Trinity getting a new stadium? We have a chance here to increase our revenues and fanbase.

We can spin this ground share as a disaster if we wish, or we can embrace it and make it a massive success.

Now you've just got to convince the other 3/4,000 Wakefield fans.

Also an opportunity to market the club to the areas around the new ground. Good potential to grow the fan base there.

They will follow the Mighty Trin, I am confident. No way are they going to sit at home when Trinity are playing in a brand spanking new stadium a few miles away. Can you imagine Derby Day.....

SBR - excellent point about the areas around/en route to the Glasshoughton site being potential for picking up new fans. There are a lot of newish housing estates in the Normanton area, for example - many of these people are relatively new to the area and have no long-term family allegiances. They might well be interested in following either club in a comfortable and well-equipped new stadium. Not to mention greater potential for commercial sponsorship/hospitality

Lets face it, what is the priority? A stadium for both teams - nothing more, nothing less. Right now, at this present moment in time GH is the logical solution. I know Wakey fans won't want to hear it and I don't like saying it but it is.

Do you think a feasibility study will consider what looks best now, or what is actually the best long-term solution / location? Will it be swayed by (RFL) time frames when considering where to spend the best part of 20 million quid (or more) on a new stadium, with the distinct possibility that neither stadium would be ready on time anyway? I'm not being antagonistic, Fully, it's a genuine question. I don't know to what extent the RFL deadline will hold sway here.

I think J32 still holds the best future for both clubs, both long-term and short-term. That's not me being biased, that's just the way I see it.

Newmarket has no potential benefits for Castleford; Wakefield moving to Glasshoughton does. You can market yourselves as a "district" club rather than a city club, your fans will already have most of the facilities nearby or on site and there is no dispute over J30 anymore.

It would solve a lot of issues.

What does not seem to get a mention on here is the part that Leeds City Council play in the Newmarket scheme and their decision not to back the scheme. As for Glasshoughton the new link road from Wakey is already in place and travelling time is less than 10 minutes from BV.

NGBFC - I agree, the Cup semi had some effect on keeping us up. To be honest, I had forgotten all about it - still haunted by that first 20 minutes.......

Good post but I do think Newmarket will be more logical as it is on the border. Travelling from Lupset to Newmarket is the same distance from the middle of Cas to Newmarket. Ours is private funding which the state of goverment money is terrible; so our ground must tick that box pardon the pun. I think Newmarket will be better for cas fans as we are the City and playing out of the city some Wakey fans will point blank refuse I won't but I can understand the principal. Where as playing 3 mile out of Cas the little town won't be too bad for Cas fans or it shouldnt be.

Precisely. The transport links are solved and both councils can be happy in their situations.

Incidentally, the feasibility will take 3 weeks to complete.

And NGB4C - think you should change your name to NewgroundatthesametimeatCaswhichisdisappointingbutohwellwe'vegottoacceptit.

Time is not on the side of Newmarket. Franchise applications are due to be in by January ? Newmarket may not even have an approval by then. It has to be Glasshoughton

I wouldn't bother reading this bit, there is nothing interesting, witty or insightful down here, just this collection of boring words explaining that you really are wasting your time browsing this signature in the vain and futile hope that there will be a nugget, nay, a veritable goldmine of witticisms or divine philosophy. In reality, all you're going to get is disappointment, a sense of hopelessness and a random word.

I'd have just used the last 3 letters myself but hey ho.
