Mentioning Smith at 9, I'd like to see Smith get a chance in the halves. I know Hood is injured, but we also have Bowes and Kaye. I know it was only a friendly, against what was mainly a Leeds reserves, but when he moved from hooker to half back, we looked a totally different side

Bowes is currently injured but once him and hood are fit they need to be the hookers

Got to be as a combination one of the most clueless slowes spines we have had for a long time. The only way we seemed to make ground was by kicking on the last ,35 \40 yards away from our try line.Weather it was with ball in hand or passing through hands every thing was so slow resulting in not been able to make space to get our three-quarters away (did the wingers get a pass) and making it easy to defend against..The three-quarters looke big but do not seem fast enough to get across in defence to cover Think we have a team of tackeles but offer very little in attack from long range .We had some players out but nothing to improve our attack .School boy howlers cost us big time but just covers over a team that are going to struggle this year

Well their first try was a gift it should have been cleared by they got lucky. TJ's second try was dubious to me but given.
We had chances to win it but let's be fair they were quicker, more organised, and deserved to win.
We HAVE to get smarter.
You have to play players to see what they can do and my personal opinion, after last night is that Smith is a half back, Gaskell is more of a centre than a SO and Kershaw should replace Lineham. I'm not blaming Lineham for TJ's tries but I feel Kershaw offers more in taking the ball up than Lineham did last night.
It's the first match but there will have to be a drastic improvement if were not to get a good hiding at Wigan.

Trinity competed well for most of the game and lost the game for 2 reasons.
Too many individual errors early in the tackle count and, unfortunately, they had Tom Johnstone, who proved to be the difference.
(although he did look to have dropped the ball for one of his three tries).

I think you are being a bit harsh on Lineham there..
His work rate was phenomenal last night.
I'm still not sure about Langi at centre.
Hall and Murphy are an excellent pairing at centre and wing, both in attack and defence.
Langi maybe should be used as an impact player ?

Major area of concern for me is the pedestrian distribution and forward passes from hooker, smith tried but isn’t a hooker kaye is good when running from dummy half but is absolutely not a hooker, fill in yes but go to no, as his passing has a slight delay which then led to a couple of forward passes and any quick play the ball is lost.
Distribution seems pedestrian across the pitch too many players can’t/won’t pass and kills any play/momentum been wingers must be incredibly frustrating in this team as you only get the ball in impossible situations or running it back out after a kick return.

Kick off was poor same kick off inviting a 20m start every time allowing the first runner loads of time to wind up to running on to the ball

Turning point of the game as said was Lyne running in to touch from the middle of the field not once did he seem to look to pass and just coughed up possession ultimately killing the momentum we had. Golden chance to win ultimately poor on field choices cost us.

For all the bashing Lineham seems to get, thought he made himself busy of course having Johnstone to deal with was always going to be a no win for him but he showed effort in attack

Perfect summary for me

He's past his best, time to go, he wasn't paticularly good last season, defence wise might be ok when he played, but too much sidewards running when attacking.

He's just well past his best now and I reckon last nights standard performance hot on the heels of similar v Fev will see Hall and Langi take the centre positions next time out.
