Why do the talks remain secret because there is apparently nothing left to talk about and MC appears to be posting that we will be moving. If that is the case we are all entitled to know why this is being agreed in our names.

Re: Moving From Belle Vue.. : Wed Jul 13, 2016 6:13 am
Some time ago I advocated on this forum that perhaps the whole sorry Newmarket saga should be reported to the magazine Private Eye who fortnightly carry an article called "Nooks and Corners" that exposes the suspected and alleged wrong doings of local councils and public bodies particularly with regards to town planning and development matters

To me the whole story would seem an ideal subject matter for investigation and publication. It would name and shame our beloved Council Leader and his cronies for what they are to the whole nation. emphasis could be place on the fact that what was designated a site for a community sports stadium now houses nothing but a giant Hotpoint fridge!!!

When I first suggested contacting Private Eye I received a reply to the effect that perhaps then wasn't quite the right time for such steps. Surely now, when things have seemed to reach as far as they can, the time has come.

Please, if someone far more eloquent than myself (are you reading Vastman, TRB, Sandalcat et al?), could put something together and contact Private Eye with a view to them taking the matter up and exposing Box and co. for the corrupt creeps that they are, and for what they have done to this once proud city and its historic, iconic rugby league club whose terraces I have graced for sixty years.

Every time I cross Kirkgate Bridge and glance across at that mis-shapen shoebox called The Hepworth I think, if only a fraction of that money could have been put to use at Belle Vue. I'm surprised Box didn't have it built at Castleford and called it The Henry Moor Gallery.

He has a point though, the time has probably come for some in depth public statements.

On a seperate note, how will the club moving out in a few months affect the brewery?

Have to agree.
Somebody said earlier it is time to cut some slack for TRB etc - while I have the greatest admiration for these guys, whose patience and dedication I can only admire, I must say the one thing we, as mere supporters have given them is lots of slack! we have been promised statement after statement, we have been asked to be patient - what's the definition of that word, I must look again!
That said the, negotiators have been in a position for years, whereby, because of the complicated nature of the ongoing discussions, they have been unable to make public exactly what they would very much like to. I get that - but that was surely in an era where something was LIKELY to come out of the discussions.
I'm sorry but it seems to me that we have finally hit the wall.
This whole business has been a string of lies and deception. WMDC, if not involved in the deceit, have been hoodwinked and shown complete incompetency.
For me the time has come to name and shame.
I will go to any demo, I will support with vigour anything published about these vile people who steamroller people for financial gain and don't and never did give a damn!
Rant over but I seriously mean it.

Just a couple of points.

First of all, from all those who do not want us to leave Wakefield, I understand your reasoning but can you tell us were we can play if we remain. Belle Vue is dead and we can't stay there ,so where else can we play.

Secondly for ll those who want to name and shame Box, it will take much more than that to worry him. He will just grin and snigger at you, the guy is thick skinned and believes he is totally untouchable.

Guys, I put a brief post on Page 27 of this thread.

When we have returned from France next week I am suggesting that the Trust puts out a statement or maybe even organises a Public Meeting which states the position.

There is no need for another public meeting - many have taken place as this sorry saga has played out, and they're always a pointless exercise in preaching to the choir; a roomful of people who want a new stadium, a panel of people trying to get one - but no representation from the people with any ability or responsibility to actually make it happen. And talk of protest is equally pointless - we did that, with a surprisingly high turnout, and it didn't make a jot of difference; HM Inspector was convinced, made a ruling, which was utterly disregarded by the time he was in the car and on his way home.

The only option now is legal challenge, which the club don't have the money for - so it would appear that we're done. Again.

To be honest i doubt a protest would gain anything like the numbers it did previously also. So many people are so tried and fed up of the whole situation that they have washed their hands of it, especially given they know deep down it won't make a blind bit of difference anyway.

I entirely agree with your comments. Legal action is the only route as far as money is concerned I have been informed it is not that much in the grand scheme of things, about the same as we pour down the bottomless pit of BV to keep it alive season after season. I think spending the money on a legal challenge would be a more prudent investment than buying the yearly 'sticking plasters' to keep BV limping along for another season
