I think you get far more choice with NRL players mid season when they can’t break into the first team or the NRL contracts on offer are not as good as they hoped for.

It’s perhaps a bit of a gamble but hardly reckless, no need to buy just because you. Wait until the player you really want becomes available.

True waiting has proved fruitful for us the last few years. The only thing we can go on is CC said on the 21st October

The Trinity chief admits he does have his eye on one more recruit, hailing the player as a "top-quality signing," if Wakefield can get a deal done.

Pretty sure he does he had an exemption when he signed for fev but in theory that lapsed when he went to another club - but who knows with the RL

Tangata shouldn’t count as should be still under dispensation rules as still on his contract from when Halifax signed him as Widnes had to tear his contract up

What do Halifax gain from this deal. Not sure why we have sent him on loan with no players in return

I imagine for a championship club he’s a costly item? Maybe you want to strengthen in other areas and need to free up funds, hard to say really.

The fact he is on loan means he is still contracted to Halifax therefore would he still be covered by the exclusion granted to Halifax following his signings from Widnes.

It will allow them to use the cash spent on his salary elsewhere and free up a quota spot.
Also, for a guy who has been wanting to test himself in SL, it lets them do "the right thing", which is bloody decent of them.
Maybe we will help them with a couple of players somewhere down the line as well ?

I think he's loaned so his dispensation is still valid. I think MC said he doesn't count and we still have 2 quote spots. If we'd signed him as our player he would count on quota.

Yeah forgot about him being on loan, a good deal for us then if it keeps us with 2 Non Fed/ Overseas places left. Seriously though figuring out the RFL rules is sometimes harder than that old Chinese board game Go.
