It`s good to have the rivalry but no idea where the dirty Leeds comes from.
But I`m sure you will enlighten me of all the sending offs we have had compared to other clubs.

Just the same as other teams keep their nickname long after the incident has passed..

Like Leeds fans calling Man United scum when actually until this year United had completely forgotten about us.

And from a rugby point of view I've never called them dirty Leeds as it just isn't part of the Leeds style........ But its easier to say than Leeds, quite good, cash rich team supported by big headed, supercilious, universally disliked fans.

We always call them lucky Leeds started in 1968 in the cup final. In key matches they always seem to get the calls that matters, or the bounce of the ball .Not sour grapes just seems to happen

No,no,no...I can never bring myself to support Leeds, even if they are playing Wigan....same goes for Cas and when it's Leeds playing Cas I just want them both to lose !!!

This Leeds v Man U is a total fabrication.

I have supported Man U since 1972 and unlike many so-called Man U fans, I actively attended matches from 1981 right up until 1994 and as an armchair fan up until 2004. In all that time Leeds were never considered a rival or even a derby or a grudge match. That's not to say we didn't see Leeds as a threat or respect them, especially in the early 90's and I assume in the Revie era but that's all.

We only have two genuine rivalries, Man City and Liverpool and I can tell you now the rivalry with City is far less intense than that with Liverpool.

Man U fans are often arrogant as are Liverpool fans but when you consider their domination of English football for half a century it's bound to happen. However, that doesn't mean we see every other club as a rival to be put down at all costs and never to be shown an ounce of respect. Only the Bin Dippers get that honour.

Leeds problem I think is that they don't really have a natural rivalry. They are a football team marooned in the RL heartland. Whilst their nearest neighbours, Hudds, Bradford, Barnsley and Sheffield are sporadic at best. Compared to them Leeds are a local giant with the possible exception of Sheffield but then they have each other. But fans need bogeymen and Man U fit the bill but it's totally one way. If we lose to Leeds the pain last a day as it does against Chelsea or even Burnley, lose to Liverpool its a whole season!

A bit like us with Leeds Rhinos I'm afraid. For a rivalry to work it has to be both ways, otherwise, it's just a complex.

However if Leeds or ourselves start winning regular, well then things might change but by regular I mean over many seasons.

Indeed. I know a few who every time we beat them, which is quite often these days, it's like it's the first time it's ever happened! Some also seem to believe that we are a club only recently promoted from the lower leagues, a place we had always been since the game began. They have no knowledge of the sixties era and if they do it's just a footnote. Odd. They don't think of Cas like that although they don't see them as being as important as some Cas fans like to believe.

To find a Leeds fan who considers or at least remembers Trinity being a genuine rival you are looking for someone well into the sixties.
