I’m on the more say what you want side so long as it’s within the law.

Forgive me if I’m wrong but threatening to kill someone is against the law.

Unless this ‘kid’ is about four years old then ignorance is no defence, it’s one of the earliest things we are taught!

No excuses on this one none at all.

Did the young lad actually threaten to kill him or say 'I wish he would die?' There's a difference....

3 pages and we already have people saying it wasn't so bad. Wow. Just wow.

I read was in the examiner in which Carter states death threats in the plural.

So unless it’s just been misrepresented seems quite different to what people are saying in here.

Don’t think many what’s app - social media conversations including most people on here would stand too close examination. I ve dropped out of groups before now because of the type of crap and content that is being posted on there by people that should know better.

Young / old.......same question applies.

What do we know about the poster?

Is/was he in a fit mental health state?
Was he under pressure himself at the time?
Was he intoxicated?
Do the club have evidence it was a 'direct' threat to an individual or a number of staff?

There's lots to consider whilst the RL journalists throw about their 'exclusive' last night but said incident happened a few weeks ago - why wait until now?

If however it was a direct threat on someone's life then the authorities will deal with it accordingly.

I read the post at the time it was posted, it was a rant on a chester out post on Facebook after we lost a few weeks back. The person was a young lad and he didnt threaten anyone but used the ridiculous and unacceptable language of I hope he dies, to which he was slapped down straight away. He apologised and the post was removed but reposted the day after as someone had screen shot it and also appeared on here on a thread. Whatever the situation no one deserves to read that we all have families and that behaviour is simply not on. It was one idiot acting alone and I dont know if he was dealt with being banned from the page or sanctioned by the club

 Is there a difference, the outcome would be the bloody same. In my mind wishing someone dead is exactly the same as wanting them killed, whether you wish to do the killing is immaterial. So no you're wrong.

I do get what you are trying to say but to me, it's just semantics, both have the exact same meaning.

I'm realistic, I don't want the lad horsewhipped, it's was a stupid act one I could imagine myself having done when young and drunk and full of anger. I wouldn't have meant it but you have to accept that you are judged by your actions.

The club could punish him by banning him from BV for the rest of the season, though I'm not sure that is much of a punishment at present.

The best thing would be for the lad to formally apologise to the club and the individual in writing in an open letter. One the club can post as an example of how emotions expressed as online abuse can go horribly wrong. Turn a negative into a positive and give this fool a second chance. We have all been fools and we have all had second chances.

In a legal sense there is a big difference and in a court wishing someone dead even if wrote it wouldn’t stand up. Threatening someone directly would.
