Watch the Chezzy pre Huddersfield game presser. Apparently Chezzy text his agent asking to keep us informed and that we have cap space and budget, Whether that lines up or not is another thing.
Chester said we had cap space, but if we had budget that was another thing.
The main positive in this is how both Williams and all of a sudden Bateman for sticking up for him are getting an absolute towelling in the Aussie press.
I think the fall out from this will make some players think twice before heading to the NRL in the future.
Both were darlings of the NRL 2 weeks ago, now they are being treated as pariah in some sections of the press. It’s nice to see there has been a backlash against this by his fellow NRL players and most of the public.
Williams is a real talent him and Lomax are levels above any other English half running round at the moment.
I personally can’t see any other destination than Wigan due to the fact he will only cost them £75k on the cap and they have a marquee spot available.
As I understand it though it’s not as simple as Burgess retired so they have his cap space available as both French and Hastings apparently took a large portion of that to re-sign for this year.
The key is though that marquee spot and his cap value.
Ian Lenagan is a very wealthy man but he does try to run the club in the right way, ie not plowing personal wealth into it and he has attempted to make it a viable business just like Carter at Wakefield.
He has also though recently sold a 25% share to the 118th richest man in England valued at £1.2 billion in personal wealth.
I’m guessing if he signs for Wigan he will be picking up the tab on this one.
You have to love MC for what he has done for the club having a sugar daddy in the background though these days is realistically the easiest way to success.
