I think there is an inverted snobbery around social media.
I hate it but not because I think it’s users are stupid but because it’s just not for me.
Redcat why is communicating via a smart phone any more sad than doing so at a Working mans club?
It’s the misuse that’s wrong. Intolerance is not new and neither is the cancel culture.
Go to pub or club in the 1980’s around here and state that you broadly agreed with Tory policy, as is your right in a free country and see how soon you got cancelled, possibly physically.
Ditto if you wanted to hear groundless ill informed nonsense on everything or vicious home destroying gossip.
All social media has done is made it easier and more anonymous, being from the comfort of your own chair with 24/7 access.
It’s the same as it’s always been, 99% of people use it well and 1% abuse it.
It will take a few generation’s to get it under control but it’s here to stay, it’s the present and the future, like it or not.
