I would say it was because they thought Gaskell would be a better option. The signing of Escare who is an Hampshire type of player obviously shows that they actually needed this cover. I would like to see what your opinion is because you are very good at questioning others without giving answers yourself. Why do you think they did not offer Hampshire a contract and do you think it was the correct decision if they are now looking at signing Escare.
Hope I am wrong but is Gaskel injury worse than they though. So we need cover for 1,6, and 7, and nothing to do with Rocky

Well first of all I'm not vastmans agent, and I'm in no position to speak on his behalf, but in this particular instance with regards to him comparing Hampshire with Price, I would imagine and it is only my opinion fwiw is that in his early days Hampshire was perceived by Wane, Powell, Lee Wotsit at Hull at the time and not to mention JK, so in the context of the thread it's not too difficult to offer a comparison, as for Gaskell, was he a Chester signing? and that being the case maybe WP doesn't see him in the same light, but I will bow down to your better thoughts on the issue. As for the rest of your post, I do try not to get involved in issues I know nothing about such as the Hampshire business, personally I would love to have seen him stay but it wasn't to be and Carter who just happens to be in charge says no, so that's it, end of as William Shakespeare used to say, one last thing because it's like pulling teeth here, personally if there is any truth in what you say that the club are looking to sign Escare then Poching will have had some input into it, so I'm happy with that, might I just ask you a simple question, you were in favour of keeping Rocky fair do's, to the extent of criticising the signing of Escare then in your next breath you are encouraging the club to sign him, could you also simplify these thoughts.
This is about Pryce not Hampshire. I don't understand why he's so important to people but if he is, post it on the other thread.
It was a relevant comparison in this case as was Westerman and Goulding. It simply does not help to overhype young players, especially in the more structured modern game.
I suspect Pryce is under a huge amount of pressure to live up to his billing. I also suspect he received a larger than average signing-on fee which only adds to the pressure. I do feel some pity for the lad, it's a lot at that age to content with as his father also found out.

Read the comments in the RL press and those of the coach, it’s amazing what you can discover. I was questioning the hypocrisy that we are now looking to sign a player despite the fact that we decided one we had was no longer necessary and would not improve the squad.

And here's us thinking you just have a psychotic Hampshire obsession, I see we got that wrong now you've explained it..

Can I just remind you it was not me who brought the subject of Hampshire therefore I suggest you redirect your post to the one who did for no apparent reason.

There was a reason though, there is nothing apparent about it. You may not agree but it wasn’t random so stop trying to dismiss it as such.
Substitute Hampshire with a player if your choice if you wish, no skin off my nose. I only picked Ryan because he’s been a talking point in recent weeks, no agenda, I leave that stuff up to you.
So back on topic, I have a certain sympathy for the lad, but he did the crime and has to do the time. It’s the law.

I don't have any idea of salaries/contract offers but I do seem to recall a discussion last season that we nearly didn't sign Rocky because his valuation of himself was higher than the clubs. When you have a club with a limited budget like we are then every salary has to be justified. Maybe part of the issue with resigning Rocky again for this season was the same thing, that he valued himself higher than the club did. Is Escare going to cost the same as it would have to resign Rocky? I don't know, and I guess you don't either.
So whilst it looks like we let one player go and now are thinking of signing a similar style of player, it may be all (or even partly) a financial decision. Given the financial astuteness of MC then I'm willing to trust that he will make the right decision with the money we have available.
