Grant was awful, spoiled what should have been a decent game. I will deffo be looking at who the officials are before deciding to go to the Wigan game or not.

the game can't go on like this It's killing any chance of survival if it continues to dish out errors that are either blatant or misjudged, while it sounds like sour grapes to a club like ours at the bottom its the difference between us competing or going under, too much is at stake now for this to continue without complaint

Correct, but no doubt if the club do actually complain they will be slapped with a fine. It's a no win situation.

but how can you be fined for proving the ref was wrong and has cost the club so dearly, it will always be a win win situation for the inept RFL

The 3 worst referees in super league by a mile are Grant, Smith and Kendall and not in any particular order as far as I'm concerned, and we had 2 out of 3, how lucky are we, apart from an unrelated small problem that's the biggest reason I did not go on Sunday and unfortunately if any of those clowns, and I use that word generously are in charge of any of the rest our games that's me done for this season at least as I'm fast losing any interest I have left in the game and I'm finding it difficult to come up with excuses to go to the game, still think Kendall's the worst ref PB, I did warn you about Grant mate :(

Yes I was warned, you were bang on he was shocking. Like you ,this is starting to get me down. Refs are having too much influence on the outcome of games.

As I understand it, each Monday after the weekend games, each club is sent an email questionnaire for the clubs assessment on the Match officials performance of their game.
I’m sure a club can express their views in this way.

DONT TOUCH THE WATCH

Re: Tom Grant : Mon Aug 08, 2022 8:44 am
It’s atrocious really that certain ref’s incompetences are genuinely stopping fans from attending games. I didn’t go Sunday but I watched the Wigan- Wire game Friday on sky. Bevan French feet were both in touch as he dived in for a rightly so disallowed try. The touch judge was literally stood 5 foot away and yet it still got sent up as a try. Yet against cas every one of ours got sent up as no try’s. How T F can a referee send it up to the video ref as a try/no try when they clearly don’t know themselves. It’s an absolute joke.

Yes thats correct. A coach can even question an incident and get an explanation because often in the past we have had an appology from the head of referees snd acceptance that mistakes were made. However nothing seems to alter.
The rules of the game dont help as some situation are impossible to judge and the ref has to guess, ie ball strip/ loss. Six again also has a wide variety of interpretations.
Having said all that, yesterday i saw a referee who was extremly vigilent in seeing we were in side especially in their 20. Yet seemed not to care to look at what Catalan were doing in defence.

God knows what he'd have been like if he'd had Tompkins in his earhole for eighty Minutes. It was bad enough as it was.

It was a bit soul destroying but there appeared some ‘shepherding’ going on at the game yesterday by the officials.

I often think it’s down to lack of investment in the training of the officials but yesterday in a number of areas it was hard not to view the way Grant and co referred as impartial.

The time that Catalans were afforded on the floor was diabolical and the constant flops that went unpunished in almost every tackle which allowed their line to be set before we could even struggle to play the ball. In contrast we were penalised with repeated six agains for holding down.

When the linesman and ref missed Gaskell being taken off the ball and the crowd went crazy he gave a six again to cats shortly after when there was no visible infringement was just a two fingers up to the trinity fans.

Yes we started terrible for the first 10-15 minutes but we did sort it out in defence after that but to an extent we were ushered away from good field positions repeatedly.
