I see your now interested in him are you did your scouts miss him

Lewis is an out and out winger of the old school.

Kershaw is clearly a decent winger but his gift is as a yardage maker, he hurts his opponents, he simply never goes backwards.

We need both and we have them.

This has been an awful season and despite the attempts of a certain poster to point score it could still end up being the worst ever - relegation.

The one shining light has been the continual development of youngsters.

Staying or going Batchelor has stepped up a notch.

Crowther has improved again.

Hall, what can you say, a total find.

Murphy and Kershaw, already noted.

Aydin getting game time, even at Leeds.

Eseh looking good at Fev and so on.

It takes time for a well run Academy to really start producing in quantity and quality but we are getting there. At some point we will get our version of the golden generation if we stay the course this season.

Agreed
The big (absolutely massive) difference is that the youngsters coming through are of SL quality and not just "having to step up".
Hall and Murphy have been the two "finds" of the season for us, they have both filled some very big boots (Johnstone and Tupou), which is one hell of an accolade.

We need to be in SL to see these guys and some of the other youngsters really develop.

The quest for survival continues on Sunday.

One thing is for sure. IF ! Chester was still here, Murphy would not have had a look in, we would probably still be persisting with innes Senior. Glad that player is long gone.

Murphy got his chance and took it with both hands, ditto Hall.
With Chester no longer here, it's all if's but's and maybe's and he certainly gave plenty of youngsters a shot last season and the one before.
Yes, his hand was forced due to injuries and unavailable players due to covid but, we went as far down the squad as I can remember.

In isolation, Senior did ok for us

didn't say was interested in him - I said I'd be shocked if you kept him. We are doing ok with our own wingers through the academy thanks - in fact we have had so many of them the Hull clubs keep taking them of our hands!
My point is he's a young lad with bags of talent why would he want to stay at Wakefield when he could go to for instance saints or wigan Jerry stayed at Giants because he's a Huddersfield lad born and bred and didn't want to wear the shirt of another club - Murphy doesn't have that same loyalty to Wakefield so he has no reason to stay with you.

Have you thought that he might want to stay at Wakefield?

WAKEFIELD TRINITY - The PRIDE of Sporting Wakefield

THE DEFINITION OF INSANITY IS DOING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND EXPECTING DIFFERENT RESULTS

So you credit McGillvray with loyalty but don't think other players ever show that.

What about some loyalty to the team that gave him his opportunity?? Any reason why a player wouldn't want to return that?
Maybe that won't be a career long thing but it's certainly not unheard of for players to stick around with a team that has given them their breakthrough chance.

Re: Lewis Murphy : Tue Aug 02, 2022 12:36 pm
Willie Poaching will probably hold his hand up to a few mistakes he has made this season but he deserves massive credit for the way he has managed Murphy and Hall. Murphy`s debut at home against Leeds was a very tough experience for the lad, I am guessing that many many more experienced coaches than WP would have taken Murphy off at half time and certainly would have not selected him for first team Rugby for some time. They would have ``protected `` the lad, allowed him to regain confidence in the reserves etc etc. Not Willie, he put him straight back in the firing line and boy hasn't the lad stood up and been counted. Massive credit to Murphy and WP. With regards to Hall he showed up really well in the pre season matches , not many others did, WP took on board what was on show and played the lad, again many other coaches would have said too young, too inexperienced so again top work from player and coach.
