Did Wakefield council not bail out Wakey when they sold you the ground for a pound ! How much did that 1 pound bet earn you

Surely if both clubs are sharing the 1 stadium then why the need to offer 2 licences, surely there is only the need to give out the 1 licence. I hate the licencing system but it would seem to make no sence to me to dish out 2 licences to clubs playing out of the same stadium

Re: Stadium Statement : Fri Jul 16, 2010 1:28 pm
After reading through the 21 pages, can i just check i have got this right,

The council have given us both land up to the value of £2mil
Planning permission permitted, we can deliver our project and have the funds to do so (allowing for the £2m given)
Cas have planning permission but dont have the funds to complete at this moment in time.

If thats so than surely its a no brainer?? Unless our funds are in question??

For whats its worth, for me a groundshare would mean 1 of 2 things. Either eventually a merged team or at the very least 1 side playing in the NL in a nice shiney stadium, this been the side that is seen as the tennant and i doubt that side would see SL again.
I cant for 1 minute see the RFL (who are all for expanding the game) letting 2 teams into SL that are so close together and share a ground when there are other sides with there own stadia crying out for a place.
All of a sudden (and i never thought id say this) im wishing that we still had Belle Vue to fall back on. Atleast if we go down we would still have our own ground (in Wakey) to play at.

This is just something Wakefield fans like to think when in fact the funding is there, hence 175k going to architects for plans. The "lack of funding" is just something fabricated by a Wakey or Fev fan on here and has pretty much zero substance.

No Funding and almost all avenues of immediately securing funding exhausted! Glasshoughton.

I know you've been off on one regarding the Newmarket funding package but as I said in an earlier post, the funding is identified via York Court, What remains of the funds from the sale of Belle Vue and various grants that have already been tested for successful securing of the funds available.

As I just said in a previous post, that is a myth and Cas do have the money and the no money myth is just something Wakey fans are clinging onto with everything they have.

So who has told you we have no funding? Have you heard that directly or is that hearsay on here?

It is pretty obvious to me that neither has the full amount of money or the council wouldn't be contemplating a groundshare, simples.

If Wakefield had identified all of the money and over it AND SECURED it, then the council could take back the original piece of land offered and give it to Cas.

Anyway, it's pretty fruitless us going over old ground. It serves no purpose and ultimatey, it won't be us making the decision.

not looking good this for either of us frankly.

I dont like the bit about identified grants we can bid for etc, since this new govt they have more or less disappeared, especially capital grants, see BSF etc.

To be honest I can see a feasability study saying neither is buildable and / or sustainable, thought that for a while but decided against posting it as i would get lynched.

my girlfriend says i'm immature, and it's time we set aside one day a week so we can talk things through as adults.
like THAT'S gonna happen in the middle of conker season!!

Re: Stadium Statement : Fri Jul 16, 2010 1:42 pm
[quote="dids858"]How much more time do Castleford need when I lived there 7 years ago you were just about start building the ground.

Ditto for WAKEY, HOW MANY SITES IS IT NOW ????????

All this inter club bickering is doing no-one any favours, blaming a councillor who follows one club for the trouble both clubs are in is just stupid.
Look at the facts Wakey have funding but have a fight with the green belt cowboys and so called Nimbys along with the might of Leeds council (though what the feck it has to do with them) against Newmarket, whilst Cas have the groundwork done and the outline planning (not due to expire as waystone have signed the needed documents) and architects working on the design, but have a shortfall in funding.

The council say they are going to make a decision over which plan to adopt, if we want Superleague it has to be Glasshoughton due to the timescale fighting off all the objectors at newmarket. If were not bothered about Superleague then it will be Newmarket as its apparrently paid for.

What I would like to hear is , that if one or the other is picked, does the remaining scheme go on the back burner for development in the future ( which means a temp share) or will it be scrapped ( which means the end of one or both clubs when the Clowns at red hall insist on the merger)

I think we (both clubs) are in a no win situation and should just carry on as we were not be ruled by some spurious council decision.

Scary isnt it ???
