So who has told you we have no funding? Have you heard that directly or is that hearsay on here?
It is pretty obvious to me that neither has the full amount of money or the council wouldn't be contemplating a groundshare, simples.
If Wakefield had identified all of the money and over it AND SECURED it, then the council could take back the original piece of land offered and give it to Cas.
Anyway, it's pretty fruitless us going over old ground. It serves no purpose and ultimatey, it won't be us making the decision.
Do I have this right. WMDC's position is now that they will throw the weight of the 2 pieces of land behind one stadium only (rather than their previous position of splitting the land to support both stadiums). They will decide which of the 2 plans they will throw it behind based on a feasibility study. The club with the unfeasible stadium are left with a share or go it alone situation.
Thats about the size of it, IMO they have no right to go back on the agreement unless they are willing to refund any costs incurred by all parties.
Could well be we've been walked down the garden path and thrown in a puddle
Or, if you look at it from a neutral point of view, if you compared both sites:
Better road links? Glasshoughton Better rail links? Glasshoughton Better commercial area? Glasshoughton Furthest along in development? Glasshoughton Least objectors? Glasshoughton
From the councils point of view, it would be much less hassle, and much better financially, commercially and in terms of less opposition, Glasshoughton is the only choice they can look at.
The fact Box is a Cas fan is nothing to do with it, the fact is the Council has just lost 70m thanks to idiots voting for "Dave" and has left them with NO option but to go with the one stadium that is much better in terms of everything mentioned.
Didn't want to get to involved in this just yet but that is a reckless and biased post. Talk about I'm alright Jack.
Better road links? Both identical, both are slip roads of the M62, what are you talking about Better rail links? How many Wakey or Cas fans need a rail link, it is after all a stadium for Wakefield rate payers. Better commercial area? What has this got to do with anything? Furthest along in development? In your dreams. Least objectors? Glasshoughton, agreed but the objections to Newmarket are pretty limited.
As for hassle for the Council, both are privately funded other than the land for security issue so where is the hassle greater on one than the other?
You're grasping at straws, again.
Truth is, both are feasible if Box plays it fair - big chance of that happening.

Good post I was about to say the same myself. I think Newmarket certainly beats Glasshoughton for traffic as the ESCAPE and Freeport will be there can you imagine the traffic 6000+ rugby fans watching a match and freeport shoppers and Escape what many familys go for a day out. Newmarket would win hands down on that front.

How many roads go INTO Newmarket?

Away fans, or are they not allowed to come to games anymore? not to mention a lot of home fans go to games by train.

SPONSORS, if you haven't noticed, now a days in RL, teams have writing and logos on the kits, advertising company's in return for money, having a stadium next to the 2nd most visited visitor attraction in the UK will enhance potential sponsorship deals.

Objectors, Newmarket possibly getting called in for Government review etc, none of this would happen at Glasshoughton

Sounds a hell of a lot like you're clutching at straws, but I expect nothing else from you.
Both MIGHT be feasible, but only if Leeds council don't get their way with the kicking & screaming about Newmarket.

5 roads into the area, 3 of which have 2 lanes so 9 lanes for traffic, that is a lot of road for people to get in, what is ESCAPE? and Freeport for that matter?
There have already been the road studies, with the new road being put in diverting traffic there will be far less traffic jams then you are trying to make out, but as I remember one of the main complaints about Newmarket is...traffic.
As I just said in a previous post, that is a myth and Cas do have the money and the no money myth is just something Wakey fans are clinging onto with everything they have.
if cas have the money why havent they started building yet and why have they come out this morning(seen on sky sports news)that they back the plan to ground share surley since they already have planning permission and has you say they have the money why would they need to back the ground share
Have you seen the plans for Newmarket ???? I don't think so you have obviously not seen the link roads to the ground and also a free park and ride bus service its perfect.
Did Wakefield council not bail out Wakey when they sold you the ground for a pound ! How much did that 1 pound bet earn you
I dont know if they bought out wakefield but i certainly remember the £1.00 ground selling exercise, but that wont be relevant here as it does'nt suit the slant of this thread plus i dont think the wildcats like to talk about it.
"Castleford's biggest home crowd of the 1991-1992 season wasn't quite 12,000 while on average they'd sit around 6000 but the noise, the chanting and the singing just blows you away" - Tawera Nikau "Standing Tall"
"I can tell you the atmosphere was extraordinary at Wheldon Road on big days. The ground held around 15,000 people, every one of them close to the action on the field and the noise would be enough to send a rumble through the town" - Malcolm Reilly "Reilly - A Life in Rugby League"

1) Newmarket has 1 road in - Glasshoughton has 2 roads each from seperate Motorway junctions 32 and 31
2) Glasshougton has a Railway Station on the door step 5 min walk away (Lots of away supporters travel by rail) - Newmarket has no rail link
So how are both identical?
1) Glasshoughton has outline planning permission and will get full permission
2) Newmarket will be lucky to get any permission and if it does it will be too late for WTW but Yorkcourt will be happy.
I think it's you grasping at straws!
