I'm no politician but if you take the goggles off re the stadium and consider points and posts made by Allmart and IA then the reason I wouls assume this has been called in is because of the following.
the development is majority green belt and the rest brown built. The district has to free up x amount of space and this area fits the bill, The Govt want local decisions however I think in this case if it came back for a local decision and bearing in mind it had a mindful to approve tag to it then would this potentially have set a precedent around green belt land adjoining motorways etc.
I maybe well off the mark here but by making the decision centrally then there is some policing of big developments.
Everything about the development is positive about the calling in, it was always a risk and its happened, the club need to fucus on the criteria for a franchise to be retained and also what needs to be done to obtain one in the future.
We seem to have been written off but I am not sure this is the case as yet there is lots of time before April for things to happen and this is a step back but not all is lost
I do agree though that the club should have prepared better for this news to come out on the front foot its a basic what if contingency to me and the Directors should be prepared. As for the trust the job of the trust is deliver the facilities to the District and needs to lead on the development both are separate entities but the water appears muddy at the moment.
