He had some good games for us and I'm not going to knock him but I don't think it's a massive loss. Is his wife still working for us?

That's a bit of good news never really performed for us on the main so no great loss and hopefully we can use his wage to better effect

I agree here, I also think England is our best prop.

For the first 10 or so rounds last year he was head and shoulders above everybody else in the club.

I am also a fan of Mika Simon, really runs it in hard. He may be a little higher on the error count than some, but he was our top metre maker in 2016 in the props

Agree with all that.

Just looking on the stats for meters made all our Props/forwards have a fairly average average carry of around the 6.5 meters. I was really surprised to see England is one of our weakest meter makers per carry at 6 meters. Only forward to brake 7 meters is Fifita, It's a worry that, when you go through all the other clubs, every club has plenty of forwards making 7 meters plus a carry. I know it's not the only aspect of a forward but it's one of the main ones.

Stats are a poor work tool IMHO. He may have only made 6.5 meters but were they up the middle or running at the small men out wide. My impression was that England ran it straight and hard and right up the middle where the big lads were.

Could the simple reason be other clubs forwards run onto the ball making them harder to tackle gaining extra yards whereas are often stood still when they take it?

That was part of the point and what I found really surprising, he doesn't make 6.5 meters like Simon or even Anderson or Scuton, he makes 6 and all of them are running it down the middle.

Stats aren't the be all and end all, but just for raw data on how many meters your forwards are making there's nothing else better imo. Ateotd they can't be such a poor tool when the Props who are considered the best, like Hill are making 8.02 meters a carry and have carried for nearly 4000 meters, or Walmsley 7.87 3691, Scott Taylor 8.25 and 2872, even Amor 7.45 3718,

Scruton probably honoured his contract at HKR so he can meet up at least twice a season with his old best mates at Bradford Bulls. hope the HKR fans don't expect a 100% performance when they play the Bulls.
