[quote="Fordy"]It's an understanding that people will only put up with being in lockdown for so long, so delaying the start of it meant that when the peak started to hit that (most) people were prepared to adhere to the rules.
Two weeks into lockdown there was very little traffic on the roads by us, when we went out for our daily walk we could have walked down the main road without risking encountering traffic. Two weeks later and every day that I go out for a walk, or a bike ride there is more traffic back on the roads, which inevitably means more people flaunting the rules on lockdown.
Start lockdown 3 weeks earlier and just imagine how many people would now be making that decision to venture back out again. It's human nature to not want to be restrained in our activities. Ask yourself how desperate were you to get out of the house after 1 week, after 3 weeks, how desperate will you be in another 3 weeks time????
I must admit there does seem to be a lot more traffic on the roads but where are they going? I go to Normy Asda once a week for shopping, three weeks since the queue was half way round the car park, went yesterday at a similar time and just walked straight in. Unless people are driving to the larger supermarkets ?
