Will be making every effort to get to the match, League Cricket on Sat does not fit in well with Sat SL fixtures. It may be the last chance we have to see one of the games greats play at BV, not sure how long a contract Greg Bird has but he is one of the only players in SL who you would pay money to watch even if your team was not involved in the game. A truly gifted footballer who has all the attributes, silky ball handling skills, tough, hard, uncompromising , aggressive , exquisite timing of a pass, great ball carrier, bit hitting tackler, great engine. As they say he has it all, a joy to watch. Undoubtedly the best player in SL and the player we must look after. Yes he is coming to the end of his plying time but wow what a player.

I dislike Bird, think he's a grub. Is this an unpopular opinion?
No, Belly tends to go totally OTT for certain players and is usually wrong. He is a grub and I certainly wouldn’t go out of my way to watch him, whilst calling him one of the games ‘greats’ is frankly insulting to the real greats of the game.
Vastman, you may or may not agree but look at Birds performances in the SOO which were remarkable, he reached a remarkable high level of performance in the NRL and maintained that standard week in week out , year in year out. You cannot seriously question his skill set, he is undoubtedly a great player, in recent times I would suggest that Thurston, Smith, Slater, Graham, Inglis, Roby, Ellis could be described as greats, Like Bird they are highly skilled ( that said I think Bird has the best all round skill set ) but the key factor to be a great, in my mind, is the longevity, the ability the all share to perform, consistently at the highest standards for many years. I think the grub tag attached to Bird by some is mainly because he did not play for the their team, I like a bit of dog in a player especially if he plays for Trinity. If the word Grub was around in the 60`s I imagine that none Trinity fans would tag it to the likes of Turner, Jeanes , Wilkinson etc.
Well you can all argue while the cows come home, I certainly wouldn't mention him in the same breath as some players what's been mentioned, he's had his day for me, and putting it mildly he's a dirty cheating get always trying to pilac the ref who I've little time for, I just hope that come Saturday night we don't allow him the time and space Cas did last week otherwise it might be a lot harder than it need be.

I seem to recall that we made Greg Bird look an absolute amateur last season.
