Because no team has ever turned over a 4 score lead...
Losing 2 players so early for the game, probably not?
We had a mountain to climb and I fully agree that at that point the game had gone.
Look, I’m not making excuses, it was an horrific performance...probably one of the worst I’ve seen from us for a long, long time...to put it into context, we lost 58-0 to a team making twice as many errors as us 24 to 12...when you lose by that score line in that manner to a team making 24 errors it says it all...
Prior to that though, it wasn’t a bad effort against Wigan and pre lockdown our previous two games were a golden point loss to Hull and an away win at Salford who seem to get better support on here than our own team for some reason, despite the fact we beat them?
We’re just making too many basic mistakes and have no leadership on the field...the vast majority on here couldn’t wait to get shut of Brough but he’s exactly the type of player we’re now missing...is Gigot the answer, I’m not sure?
What we need to do is get back to the basics and cut out the poor errors that are killing us. Go to back to playing with smiles on our faces...there is no relegation this season so that pressure is lifted but at times we look like a team with the weight of the world on our shoulders and play desperate stuff that doesn’t come off.
We need to start games stronger...when we complete sets at a high percentage and end sets well with decent kick chase, kick pressure we are a decent side and then the rest falls into place...when you complete high you will have spells on the front foot and that’s where you can give the ball some air and we can be very dangerous and a match for anyone when we do...
I don’t think a change in coach is needed just yet, just stop playing desperate stuff and go back to basics and the rest will fall into place. As much as I am pro Chester I don’t think he should be without criticism...Tanginoa is NOT a starting prop...get him on the bench and use him as an impact back rower ffs...and think his handling of Jowitt is nothing short of criminal...feel real sorry for the kid...don’t think I’ve ever known a player play well do many times then get dropped! Then he gets back in and makes an odd mistake or two and seems to be made a scapegoat...lads confidence must be all over the place...just give him a good run in the side!
