5 or 6 seasons ago Cas were only getting about 2-3000 people going to the games since they changed coach, Brought Powell in & started winning & competing for Cups & top of the table people came back in droves. You aint going to bring new fans in to watch bottom of the table stuff. It's going to be a hard slog No matter how hard we try putting posters up etc There's nothing to get excited about Sad but true. Success brings in Fans

Social media is a great tool, but for me its preaching to the converted unless you spend some effort and produce something that could go viral. The issue with that is is it's very easy to press like then forget about it after a day or so, with no real benefit to the club. Everyone in Wakefield, or at least every sports fan, should know who Tom Johnstone is, but I bet outside of Trinity fans not many do.

The point of the Wakefield AFC advert I saw was that it is effective in reaching out to people who wouldn't ordinarily look for it. It also must have been fairly affordable.

I know the mantra is only spend whatever we accumulate, but we're not going to accumulate more with that policy in order to push the club onto that next step. Unless we hit a real purple patch and have a great run with few injuries we are 5th place club at best, and that's not a slight on the club, there are just better teams with greater resources above us. Relying on success to boost crowds is a little foolhardy. There can only be at most two successful teams each season.

I think we are agreeing with each other from different angles. If that's what you want, look for new owners, because thats not their policy.

Agree with most of your post but they have never had 2-3000 in SL.

Their lowest average over the last 10 years was 6288 in 2013 and their highest was 8779 in 2017.

For comparison, our lowest was 4351 in 2014 and highest 8172 in 2012 - mind you the higher figure was under the Glover regime and there seemed to be some "double counting" going on at certain times while he was in charge.

However, our most recent average was 5368 in 2019 so, there seems to be plenty of scope for increasing attendances.
Most of the die hard fans are used to the state of the ground but, there is no doubt that modern facilities would encourage more people to attend and IF this could be coupled with some success on the field, numbers would grow significantly.
A regular top 4/5/6 finish would put another 1500 or more fans on the gate.

I'm not interested in new owners, unless they are a Trinity fan and are a multi-billionaire, I accept what we are and what we can afford, I am comparing what a basically amateur club has done to a professional one though.

I wonder how effective it is, it looks good I grant you but would it draw in a single extra paying fan?

Remember Wakefield AFC is effectively an amateur club, whatever cash they raise doesn't go on wages as far as I can tell. Thet are looking for people to participate we are looking for paying punters, two very different agendas.

I'm not saying your wrong but I rarely see any RL club doing that kind of thing these days let alone us.

Tell you what though, if you can find out how much it cost I'll contribute £50 straight away and I'm not joking. This sounds like a project fans can contribute to, ie the likes of Luppy and Scarlet for a start. Again I'm not having a dig, I just don't see why we can't do it, I'm sure the club has the people to knock up an ad?

Past history tells me you wont get much out of fans, but it could be something to team up with one of the sponsors. A dual advert of sorts.

True but it depends how much it costs. If it cost a few hundred quid for a week or two then we could do it on here? A go fund me page?

Best tim though is not now but when matches go live again, would you agree?

Done a very quick check unscientific search and the price for a standard digital advertising screen like the one opposite Willis in Wakefield seems to be roughly £350 for a two week campaign.

Get in touch with MC through the club website and see if he’s interested. I’ve done so in the past and always received an instant positive response.

If they are willing to create an ad my £50 offer stands. I’m busy sorting out a hopefully much bigger project otherwise I’d do it myself. So I’ll have to pass the baton to you or someone else on this one :ROCKS:

Just before they sacked Millward I’m sure they got a crowd of just over 3000. May be wrong though.

Looking at our attendances since the heady days of the 60’s and early 70’s I don’t think we’ve ever done much better then what we are averaging now. I discount the glover era because clearly we were never getting gates of 8000 at home to catalans whatever number they managed to dream up! So from 2014 we have managed to gradually build year on year

In my opinion, the number of people wearing merchandise in the city has vastly increased from 2016. Whether that’s the team, the merchandise, better gear or what I’m not sure

One final reply vastman.
I have always kept clear of having a go at the players and inever run them down., however I have had a go collectively if the team have performed well below expectations.
I never wanted to see CC shown the back door unlike yourself.
I do critasise the clubs lack of ambition and feel I'm not on my own on that subject.
Yes you have become boring constantly jumping on the back of a number of posters without reading the post in full in the first place and going on for ever to constantly attempt to humiliate them and bow to your self proclaimed superiority.
You seem to be an expert on all subject and have and have an opinion everything, the vast majority in my opinion fall well short of the mark and what you don't know you make up on a egular basis,
Anyway for me at the end of the day it's about opinions and supporting the club in what ever way you can and being honest in my observations..
You seem t I'm think you have some sort of manopoly on the site and your view is the only right view. ITS NOT COME TO TERMS WITH IT.
