My philosophy during my working life was I can sit at home and watch the telly for nowt, and I'm sure he won't have come cheaply, I just wondered if SC had a ball park figure to share out of interest.
The figure I continually hear is 100k per season.
I'm amazed people swallow that.
For a CEO renowned for being tight is it remotely likely he would commit that amount to a 30 year old winger regardless of his coaches alleged wishes? I think not.
I suspect this is a classic 2 + 2 = 5 scenario. I suspect that 100k was his Warrington wage, but Warrington no longer wanted him, nor apparently did anyone else. so although I'm sure that's what he and his agent touted him for it's not what they got from us.
Players are people and are flawed, I'm absolutely certain that in a world of macho kudos players will always inflate their value to others, it's human nature. This is where this kind of info comes from, and it quickly gains momentum because I swear some fans want it to be so.
It's a bit like the Queen, she can't defend herself, ditto the club, they know what they pay Lineham but they can't make that public. So they can't deny the rumours and thus they gain a credence they don't deserve.
My guess is he's on half the 100k of legend and even that's too much in my opinion.
