It sounds great in theory doesn't it. You have to sell and market the product though. So it might be a case of short term pain for long term gain. My concern is will 365 different groups of people want to go to a conference / venue at a non picturesque location?

I've been to some ropey hotels as part of of conference, a brand new facility with ample parking is will be better than anything else on Wakefield. For a start I will recommend the facility to the company I work for.

I don't disagree and like you I've been to some terrible venues as part of work. As you say if people turn up and get a great rolls Royce experience that's fantastic. But is that going to happen from day 1? The club need to be well prepared to hit the ground running to make this a success. Hence my reference to short term pain ie. They'll need to put hands in pockets. Also the facilities could be wonderful but let's be honest the location isn't in my humble opinion.

Wakefield College are again having to hold their staff conference (August), at Elland Road.

There is just no-where in our City to hold a big event.

The new facility will/can be a game changer.

There was only Cedar Court Hotel, which is now unavailable.

What's happened there? Was always the go-to place around here.

You're really on one today but this is ridiculous and groundless.

So for what reason do you think they won't 'hit the ground running'.

Off field the club is well run and we always sell our hospitality, so I think its very disrespectful to suggest we don't have it all worked out.

Finally, what do you expect from a Wakefield window, herds of wilder beasts sweeping majestically......

I've sampled the hospitality twice at BV and once at the Etihad, surroundings (and price) aside there was little difference between them in my opinion so I feel the club are well placed to make a success of that part of the redevelopment. It almost certainly will have formed part of their future revenue projections

What is ridiculous and groundless? An OPINION that the club will have to get their ducks in a row to make something a success?

Re-read my posts. Where do I say the club won't make it a success? You'll actually find that I say I hope it's a rolls Royce experience.

Your last point about what do I expect from wakefield proves my point / reservations to be correct. Your getting married. Are you realistically going to chose a function room at Belle Vue or somewhere a bit more appropriate? Or your booking a conference for a multinational company - would you pick wakefield?

I hope the club smash this out of the park. But if you disagree that they need to get it right then I'm not sure what else to offer.

I eagerly await your neggy reply that will ultimately lead to me not posting on here again..

Cedar Court has been used to house asylum seekers for about 2 years (?) now, so not open to the general public, although there were some travellers caravans on the car park about 3 weeks ago, but they didn't stay long
