As for a ref taking a game for his home town club. It doesn't bother me.
He can either be impartial or not a ref. Shouldn't have to put a rule in to stop them being impartial.
Do you recall that match a few seasons ago when Trinity held a comfortable lead over Saints and at half time Steve Ganson (Then the Head of Referees, and a St Helens man as well), "Had a word" with the match referee? Strangely the pattern of the match changed somewhat in the second half and Saints went on to win. Didn't that seem somewhat unorthodox to you?
Also, it is my opinion, and just as valid as your opinion that ALL referees are Persil white.
I bet you believe all MPs are honest as well.
